Outside in Theatre is co-producing Lottie Plachett Took A Hatchet with Hollywood’s LGBT Center from October 7 to October 30, starring Kirsten Vangsness as Lottie Plachett, Justin Elizabeth Sayre as Bartha, Tom Detrinis as Molly, Ryan W. Garcia as Josiah, and Tom Lenk as Pansy. A fast-moving, camp whodunnit-comedy born out of New York’s downtown cabaret scene, Lottie Plachett Took A Hatchet is written by Justin Elizabeth Sayre and directed by Jessica Hanna. The play takes place in 1887 when an innocent old maid, Lottie Plachett, is accused of murdering her father and stepmother. Whether Lottie is really the murderer, though, is up the a jury, and of course, the audience.

Exaggerated from true events, the story is based on the murder case of Lizzie Borden, a woman tried and acquited in Massacusettes in the 19th century for the axe murder of her father and step mother.

Lottie Plachett Took A Hatchet was critically acclaimed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and makes it’s West Coast run at The Davidson/Valentini Theatre at Hollywood’s LGBT Center.
