Each generation needs a reliable brand to create a wardrobe that reflects their aesthetics and desires, and the London-based Poster Girl has their finger on the pulse of the needs of the modern trendsetter. Fusing fantasy with reality, Poster Girl offers dream-like, flattering pieces that are designed to make their wearer stop traffic, and are an emblem of contemporary femininity and individuality.

Poster Girl co-founders and creative directors Francesca Capper and Natasha Somerville met when studying for their Bachelor of Arts in womenswear design at Central Saint Martins in London. In between the times of their meeting and the creation of Poster Girl, Francesca worked under Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, and Alexander Wang while Natasha grew with John Galliano, Jeremy Scott, and Bvlgari, collecting their fashion experiences that would result in one of the more popular brands of the current scene. In 2017, Capper and Somerville founded the London-based brand that has gone on to be worn by the likes of Kylie Jenner, Megan Thee Stallion, and Dua Lipa, garnering viral craze on TikTok. Their Autumn Winter 2023 campaign includes City Girl's JT, signifying the favor they've earned within the modern fashion world and culture lovers alike.

Flaunt spoke with Francesca and Natasha about the collection, their friendship, and what it means to be a Poster Girl.

What is a Poster Girl? What do they dream about, and how long would they last in an apocalypse?

Francesca: POSTER GIRL is an inner feeling, an alter ego / a ‘bad bitch’ catalyst. For this reason, I would predict a medium-high chance of surviving an apocalypse.

How does your dynamic affect the creative process? What is the dialogue like?

Francesca: We recently both went to a psychic in LA who told us we knew each other in past lives, which honestly makes so much sense. We are always in perfect synergy with one another which makes the partnership more than perfect.

What was your inspiration for AW23? How do you find a balance between sweet and spicy, soft and forceful?

Natasha: AW23 is a journey of prostitute couture or ‘luxury hoe’ as JT coined. It takes you through candy cane pirate stripes, faux fur ice-age Bambi prints, and glossy latex. We are obsessed with textures - I want people to be drawn into the clothes and to be dying to wear them.

World domination or world peace?

Natasha: World peace always reminds me of Miss Congeniality, sadly I don’t think that will ever exist. We would always joke with each other about world domination like Pinky & The Brain haha.
