‘Not The Weather’ is a synthy, bass-heavy track about a born hustler's life and mindset.

Chip Tha Ripper has shared his newest single, ‘Not The Weather,’ from the Cleveland rap artist’s latest album, The Charles Worth LP

‘Not The Weather’ is a collaborative effort from Chip and Wiz Khalifa, marking the latest example of significant rap artists seeking out Chip The Ripper to work with him (he has previously had a long-term collaborative partnership with Kid Cudi).

‘Not The Weather’ is a masterclass in how you deliver deliciously bouncing rap verses and a compelling chorus. The track’s title revolves around Chip’s insistence to focus on his money and “not the weather.” But on a deeper level, the song is about surviving today by adopting a hustler’s mindset and not letting your guard down for a second.

The track is held together by an incredible chorus, with intricate multi-syllabic rhymes that are so enjoyable you find yourself needing to listen to the track over and over to catch all the wordplay involved in them:

“Some can do it well, but nobody do it better/I’d rather talk about, where’s my money, not the weather/I sent your girl a text and told her get her shit together/I paid the movers, I don’t lift a finger or a feather/She asked me when was I gon’ be her man, I told her never/That bh is only out there going H.A.M. because you let her/I’m on my throne, I got my own, you know I’m not no beggar/I pimped the bh, finessed the hoe, I con her like McGregor.”

The song is one of the many examples on The Charles Worth LP of Chip constantly finding rhymes, verses, bars and beats to suit any occasion. Perhaps the most exciting thing about this 21-track LP is just how much Chip has to say, even as someone who has been in the music business game for a long time. You get the feeling that he’s approaching his music with more energy than ever before - like he’s not taking his success for granted and wants to continue extending his fanbase.

Speaking about his artistry, Chip himself says: “I try to make my music songwriting as relatable as possible for the listener. Early in my career, I realized that I wanted to speak on behalf of the people I lived amongst and not to them. I rarely rap about the life of a rapper but about connecting to the listener…offering a useful perspective.”

This drive to “connect to the listener” motivates Chip Tha Ripper to continue making outstanding music. He never settles for throwaway songs or verses - he always ensures that everything he puts out to the world resonates with his audience.
