Electro Pop Diva YellaCatt has had quite the year so far. Her first tour with fellow recording artist Jasmine Crowe along the west coast was a success. YellaCatt’s stand out performance  was at the iconic Peppermint Club where her budding fan base squeezed into the packed show to cheer her on. Plus, her newest EP with Jonny Joon, Dark Star, has been receiving accolades from coast to coast. Yellacatt is everywhere, even on billboards along Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Dark Star and it’s  undisguised ambiguity adds another dimension of provocative and playful energy to her music roster. Mystical hues and psychedelia references inspire the undertones of the song. The process was completely different from the duo's usual flow. "I went into the studio one day expecting to record a completely different song I was having a hard time with, and I just wasn't feeling it," says YellaCatt. "Jon and I decided to bag that song entirely and write something new. It's kind of an edgier, sexy synth-pop song."

YellaCatt and her producer Jonny Joon were vibing on his Moog keyboard, experimenting with various synth progressions. The cool effect they landed on was such a vibe they continued on that wave. "The song is inspired by this kind of dark, edgy melody that Joon wrote on the Moog, says YellaCatt. "I love that thing! You can create infinite iterations of unique sounds by tweaking the knobs, it's amazing.”

Original sounds are what have fans gravitating toward YellaCatt's cosmic orbit. "I'm also a sound healer. I have always had a strong connection to the spirit realm, and the exploration of that realm is always ongoing in my life.” Before she became a Reiki Master in 2005, YellaCatt recalls a book that transformed her life. "I read this book titled “Tantra” by Andre Van Lysebeth in my early 20's. It described Tantra as the worship of the divine feminine," says YellaCatt. "That really spoke to me and opened new doors for me. I've always had deep connections to different dieties across different cultures. I have always loved the ancient goddess Isis from Egypt, as well as the Norse goddess Freya, Durga of India, Hecate of Greece, as well as the ancient Sumerian goddess Inanna." All gods and goddesses are expressions of different archetypes or energies in the universe. You can form relationships with them, and learn from the wisdom, power and magic they carry. You can invite that energy into your life and draw that power into yourself for growth, strength, and inspiration."

Fans of YellaCatt love her for her cosmic badass attitude. "My fans love the sass, but they also really love the songs I write from my heart," says YellaCatt. "I have another song coming out called 'Born To Fly’. It's written for my niece and nephew and is supportive and heart-centered. It’s a very different vibe from Dark Star. This newest single is one YellaCatt describes as her favorite, "Dark Star is the name of the magic man who I'm singing to! I don't know who he is.... we have yet to meet, and I am calling him in through this song. It’s a pretty sexy track. I just love the attitude behind the synth progression… it's just so edgy and powerful to me and it immediately inspired me to write the vocals. Dark Star reflects where she is on her journey of growth, "It aligns with my spirit and my self-empowerment message, and I want others to feel empowered too. I want to help people feel their inner power and magic. Communicate what your desires are, express yourself, and set healthy boundaries. We are going through such a tumultuous time right now in history, and we need to be able to believe in ourselves and tap into that strength to get through these growing pains,” says the artist.

Aside from being a performing artist and sound healer, YellaCatt is also a headpiece designer. "I make wild crowns that are designed to make you feel like a living work of art." Her work has been worn by Lizzo, Nicki Minaj, and Daphne Guinness. In between her music, designing headpieces, and conducting sound baths in Seattle, YellaCatt finds time for calm and resetting. "I usually go on hikes in the woods and just get out into nature. in the summer I love swimming in the saltwater and being out on the water,” says the artist. "It’s a healthy way to reconnect to myself, get into nature and replenish."
