With this new series, Beryl returned to classical oil painting after a mixed media video installation in 601 Artspace, New York in 2020. “Presently, I am exploring origins of views. How is who we are constructed? I use a classically formal aesthetic to illustrate the intangible, arranging images, light, and object in such a way as to reflect subtle things we have not seen or some that we have forgotten,” speaks the artist of _Discarded Comfort._ BerylOdetteDiscardedDiscomfortFLAUNT (1).jpg ![BerylOdetteDiscardedDiscomfortFLAUNT (1).jpg](https://assets-global.website-files.com/62ee0bbe0c783a903ecc0ddb/6472d7798f601ec7d7128e1c_BerylOdetteDiscardedDiscomfortFLAUNT%2B%25281%2529.jpeg) Beryl Odette is an artist born and based in Los Angeles, descended from survivors of slavery and The Holocaust. Her work - luringly aesthetic, and mesmerizingly beautiful - ranges from classically formal oil on canvas to site-specific installations and video work. Exploring multiple mediums and celebrating abnormal materials, she presents an intangible sense of discomfort within the beauty of the work.
