Christian Cowan’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection brought a playful and sexy flair to New York Fashion Week this year. Revisiting the club kid theme, we saw feathers, crystals, sheers an array of unpredicted prints. The models walking down the runway were told to “ham it up” leading to perky interactions with the crowd and adding that special Christian Cowan twist to the vibrant garments.  * A Christian Cowan line is much like a night out, completely unexpected. Once a model rounded the corner, on the other side there was a new color and a new texture coming down the runway. The collection challenged the idea that New York nightlife is in the past. The retro-inspired yet Gen Z-influenced designs sparkled in a mesmerizing way reminding us of what post-COVID life might be like. A timeless and timely line. One of our favorite looks was a black maxi dress with the sparkling words by Susanne Bartsch “This is the Front” and “This is the Back.” The grand finale was a majestic white dress that floated down the runway worn by Winnie Harlow. Of course, a collection that mirrors the liveliness of a club scene comes with a dashing guest list. Musicians Saweetie, Tinashe, Julia Michaels, Kehlani, and Justine Skye were joined by La La Anthony, Symone, Gigi Gorgeous, Amelia Gray Hamlin, Aquaria, Nikita Dragun, Liza Koshy, and Bretman Rock to celebrate Cowan’s latest collection. * * * Photographed by [Marsha Lebedev Bernstein](http://marshaphoto.com/)
