[Dennis Lloyd](https://www.dennislloydmusic.com/) is blowing us away with his debut album _Some Days_, out this week. The multi-Platinum international star first made waves with his hit single “[Nevermind](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naW6-WxmMiU&ab_channel=WarnerMusicItaly),” and the project details his journey since that time: a challenging two-year period marked by a legal dispute, depression, and anxiety, as he told _Flaunt_ exclusively below.
Beginning with the album’s lead single, “[The Way](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_jXhg4Tqck&ab_channel=DennisLloydVEVO),” produced by Dennis and Kygo, _Some Days_ finds Dennis exploring his deepest questions, narrating his story through the time of “Nevermind” to his present life, as he searches for his true purpose.
Dennis states, “This album is about my journey. It’s about my doubts and fears, questions everybody asks themselves. Am I just a kid from Tel Aviv, or an artist who travels the world? This album is about finding the way I want to live my life.”
We spoke to Dennis about his journey since “Nevermind,” the story behind “The Way,” and his new album _Some Days_. Read on below!

**You’ve had quite a journey since the release of your hit single, “**[**Nevermind**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naW6-WxmMiU&ab_channel=WarnerMusicItaly)**“. How does it feel to finally release your debut album?**
I’m thrilled to share my journey through my music with my fans around the world. For me, this album summarizes the past 5 years of my life. Every song is connected to a feeling I've had throughout the years. The highs, the lows, this album is coming out in the perfect time for me and my fans.
**What would you like fans to know about your experience over the past few years. What did you learn from your time off the road?**
My fans knew very little about what was going on behind-the-scenes for me personally when “Nevermind” blew up. When I was on the road touring, I was embroiled in a legal dispute and was struggling with depression and anxiety, but the world knew none of that. I released a documentary called the _Some Days Documentary_ where I open up in a way I don’t think I ever have before. The album is the soundtrack of that experience, I hold nothing back.
**Your recent songwriting explores themes like the need to balance success and simplicity. Do you feel like you’ve found a new sense of balance over the past few years?**
Good question, my writing has changed a lot. I used to write about my relationships and that really fucked up my personal life. I was living in some sort of a loop: break up, write about it, go on tour, etc. Beyond that, I didn’t really have time to process how my life had changed. I really feel like the next chapter in my life is going to be as balanced as it can be.
**Tell us about your new single “The Way.” What was the inspiration for that particular track?**
Back in 2019, I was on the road for 4 months, touring across the US and Australia. In between the legs, I had a few weeks off. I had the opportunity to go into the studio with Kygo, then I had a week off before the next leg of the tour. I went to the jungles of Latin America and tried to process everything going on. The contrast between the peaceful jungle and tour were two major extremes, it really made me reflect on the way I want to live my life.
**What’s the meaning behind the album title, _Some Days_?**
_Some Days_ is one of the most vulnerable songs on the album, it really exemplifies one of the main themes of the album. "I know some day the lights will turn off, where would I go?" Everything must come to an end. The lights not only refer to the ones on stage, but to one’s life. When it all ends, what’s next?
**What would you say to aspiring songwriters who are interested in following a similar path?**
Be honest with your writing and don't try to sound like anyone but yourself. Stick to your truth, no matter what. You may write a song and consider keeping it in your drawer because it’s too intimate or raw, but realize that song could change someone's life for the better on the other side of the planet. How do you hold on to that?
**Are you looking forward to getting back on the road?**
One day, when traveling is easier, I may go on the road again. Until then I plan to work on more music, develop new skills and learn new things about life.
