We all need a little bit of encouragement these days, a gentle nudge to get back out into the world and re-connect, however scary it may seem, and whatever your terms of engagement. It’s going to be a re-entry process for us all, but find your comfort level and go for it. We still believe, life is worth a little leap of faith.
It’s those sentiments that have us thinking that “Don’t Hold Back” has a shot at becoming one of summer’s anthems. Zane Lowe called it ‘heartbreak and bliss’, a bittersweet siren call to dance, to lay bare your soul and let yourself go. Written by DRAMA, who look bang on as a quintessential act to watch in 2021; a multicultural melting pot writ large, Palestinian and Jewish, immigrant and indigenous, grinding work ethic, they are everything we hope America can be post-pandemic.
After a series of heaters with UK house group Gorgon City that had their streaming numbers popping off the last twelve months, “Don’t Hold Back” is DRAMA’s first solo work since their album last year, which hit just before the world turned. This seems like a perfect book-end moment, a re-affirmation of the emotive, deep and meticulously produced tracks that have become their hallmark, alongside the power and presence of lead-singer Via Rosa. Catch them, if you dare at Lollapalooza, Life Is Beautiful or Outside Lands this summer.
