In an effort to feel closer to his mother Elena during the pandemic, a established Jewelry designer and Artist, the renowned NYC based Photographer Daniel Matallana had the idea to start her namesake jewelry brand. From there, Elena Matallana Jewelry was born.
Elena, who began studying artisanal jewelry making in 2009, currently works out of Sesquile, Colombia, where she creates the pieces alongside her team of artisans. Each piece is hand-made and inspired by pre-Columbian artistic tradition. The collection features 24k gold-plating over brass and a collection of raw emeralds, as Colombia is known for its emerald production.
From elegant earrings to statement pieces, Elena Matallana Jewelry fuses together pre-Columbian aesthetics with some of Elena’s personal inspirations to produce a carefully-made collection, bridging together past and present.
