At just 13 years old, the singer-songwriter’s career jumpstarted on national television as she earned second place on _The X-Factor,_ swooning audiences around the world overnight. After graduating high school in New York, she relocated to Los Angeles to develop both artistically and personally, preparing her to re-enter the industry on her own terms.  With her smooth, sultry voice that’s paired with both pop accents and soul influences, Carly’s sound stands out in the oversaturated music scene. Now, she returns to unveil the official music video to “Change My Mind,” premiered today exclusively on _Flaunt_. The record itself sees the rising star juggling with the idea of self-acceptance, coming from a first-person perspective of an individual whose mind feels like an overwhelming maze. Learning to accept yourself for all your beauty and faults is a never-ending process, and the song speaks volumes to her mental health. Speaking about the record, Carly confesses, “Lyrically I wanted to tow the line between accepting the brain you’ve got because it’s yours and you gotta own that shit, while being able to acknowledge things you can work on. In those moments that none of the positive thinking seems to be getting through to you, I hope people can listen to this song and find some comfort in the fact that in our own ways, we’re all fucked — but at least we’re all fucked together :).” The visual was shot in Mountain Center, California, with director [Claire Schmitt](https://claireschmitt.com/) bringing Carly’s vision to life for building a bedroom in the middle of the desert. At first you see what you think is simply a grunge 90s-inspired teenage bedroom, but as Carly battles against her mind, she destroys the room until revealing that this is no regular bedroom but one stood alone in bare nature. Being trapped in the room was supposed to feel like being trapped in our mind and an attempt to escape.  Speaking on the creative concept, director Claire Schmitt says, “Often we get stuck in the same racing thoughts and become blind to our surroundings which can take a war with ourselves to become aware of. The pacing between shots was designed to follow the energy of having highs and lows. Tearing apart every thought and feeling you have until you eventually erupt - much like the eruption of the room. Then finally you can see beyond the chaos your mind has caused to the beauty the world has to offer.”  Watch the “Change My Mind” video above and escape the confinements of your own mind!
