[Joey Reed](https://www.instagram.com/imjoeyreed/) & [Tosha](https://www.instagram.com/tosha_ptp/) are the dynamic duo, the true definition of “lit” in all aspects of the word. Arriving with undeniably contagious energy, vibrant personalities, and impeccable dance moves, both guys hail from different parts of the States, coming together to spread nothing short of good energy and positive vibrations to the rest of the world.
Effortlessly and unintentionally breaking down the stigmas that come with the word “influencer,” both Joey and Tosha have figured out how to turn their dance moves on TikTok into a fruitful, sustainable career, not only monetizing on the social media platform but providing entertainment for the millions of those who follow them from all around the world.
Joey Reed and Tosha travel the world and dance, even serving as the first TikTokers to partner with professional sports teams. Working with the NFL on exclusive content on the field, on site during game day proves to be full-circle, as Tosha was formerly a football player and Joey a back-up dancer. With the [#wrapmeinplastic challenge going all the way up on TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/tag/wrapmeinplastic) hailing over 864 million views on the social media platform, Joey and Tosha prove they are just getting started.
_Flaunt_ caught up with Joey in-person in downtown Los Angeles, while we connected with Tosha via phone. Read below as we discuss how the guys met, how they got on TikTok, transitioning to Los Angeles, the #wrapmeinplastic craze, partnerships with the NFL, Jason Derulo reaching out, their best moment, and more.
**How would you guys describe yourselves?**
**Tosha**: I'll describe you and you describe me. Joey Reed is a wild, excellent dancer, spontaneous, and a great guy overall.
**Joey:** Alright Tosha, he's annoying. Nah. \[laughs\] He's a rapper, artist, and a funny TikToker. We both started doing TikTok together. We kept going back and forth. We started making dance videos and it went viral.
**#wrapmeinplastic in right?**
**Joey:** Yes, it's a dance trend that we didn't know was going to really blow up. It went out of nowhere and did its own thing. We're just some TikTokers that travel and dance.
**How did you guys meet initially?**
**Tosha:** I’m from Florida, Joey's from Nebraska. My best friend from Florida moved to California after college, and was always begging me to come out there. I wanted to end up living there so I came out there one time, and his roommate was Joey. I got introduced to Joey like that. Everyday, we started making dance videos and grinding it out. Eventually, it paid off for us.
**Joey:** When I first moved to LA, you already know the industry can be fake. I didn't really have a lot of friends. Tosha’s one of my first friends. I said "yo, this guy's actually really, really cool. We can do videos, photos." TikTok wasn't even out, but we’re doing content every single day.
**How was it transitioning to Los Angeles?**
**Joey:** The transition from Nebraska to LA was definitely different because LA’s a bigger city. It's way different than what Nebraska is, you need a car to get everywhere. It's more about the people you meet can help you, and that's anywhere. But with Tampa, is it similar Tosha?
**Tosha:** It's a beachy vibe. It gives off the LA vibes in a way, but it's flat. All the hills are glistening, that was pretty cool. With the transition as far as fast life, it's fast over here too but not as fast.
**What initially brought your guys to LA?**
**Joey:** The dream.
**Tosha:** Yeah, the dream.
**I know the dream wasn't Tik Tok, so what was it?**
**Joey:** I wanted to be a backup dancer. I was already doing backup dancing for artists, I said "Yeah, I want to be a backup dancer for Justin Bieber or Beyoncé.” Then there's way too many people doing it.
**Tosha:** I went to school for acting, but I'm a rapper initially so I went out there to do that. I never thought I’d be dancing.
**How did you guys fall into TikTok?**
**Joey:** Tosha started it. Toshay was the first one that said "Yo, let's get on this app TikTok. It was before musically. I got on it and we weren't dancing together. We were doing our own thing, making funny videos.
**Tosha:** Just making funny stuff.
**Joey:** We started doing TikTok together, and that's how our trend came about.
**So how did you get the 7 million? Has it been a grind?**
**Joey:** So Toshay's at 4 million right now, I'm at 7 million. The whole startup was based off the comments of our fans. We say “where should we do this dance next?” They'll comment “do it on top of a car at Chick-fil-A drive-through,” we literally did that. That one didn't even go viral. Some of these didn't go viral until the police station video went viral, that one's at almost 100 million views. Every single day, me and Toshay knew to keep that momentum pushing. We’d get ready in the AM and post every day at 4pm California time, but we'd be in a different city each day.
**How did you know 4:00pm was the time to post?**
**Joey:** I don't know, we stuck with a time and posted.
**Who came up with the #wrapmeinplastic dance challenge?**
**Joey:** I came up with the sound and the dance. The trend itself didn't really come about until the next couple of videos. It was never a dance trend, it was a model trend. It was a TikTok trend with the song. The video goes black-and-white with the photos of you, and that's what was popular on that sound of #wrapmeinplastic. We made a dance out of it and no one made a dance to it yet. It was already a popular sound so it went viral after the next few videos.
**How does it feel to go viral and get all the attention?**
**Tosha:** We worked hard for it, we deserve that.
**Joey:** We did work hard because we were always part of the social media industry, already doing videos on Instagram.
**Tosha:** We were already doing videos before everybody. We never really got the attention for it, we made a whole bunch of videos. We made way more trends before this one, we had 15 to 17 trends. They all caught on but we don't get recognition for it.
**Joey:** We had a lot of trends before this. You know how people are supposed to credit other people? We didn't really get the credit for it, so this trend was the only on.
**Tosha:** Emma Chamberlain did my trend and Nickelodeon commented on it, then the next couple months she’s on Nickelodeon. I’m like wait… \[laughs\]
**Joey:** Nickelodeon commented and all of a sudden, now she’s on Nickelodeon.
**Tosha:** Little things like that that we've seen overall doing this TikTok stuff. I'm glad we're starting now to get credibility, so it's pretty cool. It's definitely humbling. Damn we really worked this hard, now it’s finally paying off.
**How does it feel being the first influencers to partner with a professional sports team?**
**Joey:** It was because Juju \[Smith\] from the Steelers did our dance during a touchdown. He made a touchdown during this game and did our dance. It was on NFL, ESPN, it was everywhere. Ever since then, we were able to get Juju in the video. We did it in Pittsburgh. From there, all the teams started commenting on our videos and hitting us up. We went to almost every NFL Stadium, NBA.
**Tosha:** It was a dream for me because I played football growing up. I always wanted to go to the NFL. Going to the actual NFL game, to the point where now we're on the field and we could go anywhere on the field, it's cool.
**So what exactly did you guys do with them?**
**Joey:** Basically the NFL will comment, then they'll hit us up or email us. We link up with them. Mostly every NFL stadium we go to, they have a jersey with our name on the back and our favorite number. We do the dance on the field with the mascot, with the cheerleaders, and maybe someone from the team. That's how we travel everywhere and do it.
**What's the craziest place you've been?**
**Tosha:** I want to say North Carolina, when we were at the college because that was our second or third time being out in front of a lot of people. We wouldn't know a lot of people would know who we are. It was crazy we stepped on campus and the first 5 people who seen us knew who we were. Cars were passing by screaming our names, we’re like "Okay.” Later that night, we go out and I guess word got around because everyone posted that we're in North Carolina. Everywhere we went, people knew who we were. What?! We're not even from here! That’s when I said “okay, this TikTok thing is crazy.”
**Joey:** Yeah, we didn't realize…
**Tosha:** Other times we go places, it was a couple of people. And we're not going out so we’d only see a couple of people anyway, that was insane.
**Joey:** I’ll agree with that one. \[laughs\]
**Who all have you guys partnered with?**
**Joey:** We partnered with Jason Derulo, Juju, Willy Wonka, Penny Wise, those are people from TikTok. Who else? Bubba Watson from PNC golf, PGA tour.
**Tosha:** Mostly NFL teams, baseball teams. We’re starting to do basketball. We did the Chicago Bulls.
**Joey:** Miami Dolphins, just always moving around. Oh the Hype House, Clubhouse, all the houses. It's funny because we do this video every single day since September, so we've collabed with so many people. I remember we did it on top of the Empire State Building, then the Empire State Building hit us up after that and followed us. They said, "Hey! We want to give you a private tour. Under the Empire State Building, there's a river. There's some other stuff down there, it's pretty cool**.**
**How did the Jason Derulo thing happen? I remember going on Instagram one night and going down a rabbit hole because his videos are hilarious.**
**Joey:** Jason Derulo DM'd me. Tosha, I was with you right?
**Tosha:** Yeah.
**Joey:** We were in New York, I got the DM from Jason Derulo. I was excited when I saw that, I said "No way! He said, "Let's do the dance at my crib." Dude, this is probably our top-tier collab. He hit us up. Finally once we went back to LA, we collabed with him. He did the dance at his place.
**Tosha:** We did a dance with him at the mall, got kicked out of the mall.
**Joey:** Oh yeah. \[laughs\] So the next week, he texted us and said “Yo!” Basically set up a video again to do it at the mall. We actually got kicked out of the mall, because we did the dance on top of the food counter. Where you order the food, we got on top of it, danced. \[laughs\] They said "Alright, you guys gotta get out of here."
**Tosha:** He said "We gotta do something crazy." I said, "We'll jump up there." He’s like, "Do it!" Alright. \[laughs\]
Yeah, we got kicked out.
**What’s your best Joey and Tosha moment?**
**Joey:** We've been recently doing shows at clubs. Our first one was at Gilt in Florida, it was literally sold out. The crowd was so live. Our funnest time together is when we get to go out and go to the club and perform.
**Tosha:** We get to show people that we're not regular TikTokers. I don’t think regular TikTokers perform at clubs? And we bring people out. The last time we did, we didn't really perform but they brought us out. We were at Hi-Fi and we told Juju to come. Juju came through with some more football players, so little things like that.
**How's that TikTok check?**
**Joey:** Oh, yeah, it's great. We got contracted with a couple of different companies. We're both with Bang Energy right now. We've done countless promotions, commercials. Most of our videos are promotions because the locations, they're just all hidden. We try to make it seem that way, not make it too promo-ish.
**As influencers, what's on your bucket list?**
**Tosha:**To be one of the biggest to do it, to inspire more people to follow their dreams. Definitely I want to get in movies, or a Superbowl commercial.
**Joey:** Even though we've been doing TikTok and traveling, I think it’d be dope to do one world tour, just do everything outside the country. Because I remember people saying “do it in Paris,” but Paris is closed down because of COVID. We definitely want to do that.
**What can we expect next?**
**Tosha:** More shows. More funny videos. More collabs. More girls, and more girls. I got a new song out right now called "Zaza,” go stream it. It's about partying and having fun.
**Joey:** Also we do have merch: JoeyandToshay.com.
