Hailing from Sacramento, the singer, songwriter, rapper, professional twerker, entrepreneur, model, influencer, and self-made baddie embodies the definition of a creative, embarking on all her endeavors with the utmost love and passion. Last year, Lexy unleashed her critically-acclaimed project titled _Baddie Vibez_, released via her own distribution company called Cuckoo. While she’s been in the music industry since she was a little girl, now more than ever is she making strides—doing everything independent and giving hope to all up and coming artists around the world that they too can achieve their wildest dreams without having to sign to a major label.  With her new rap persona Virgin Lex in full effect, Lexy is as excited as ever to be embarking on her new tour in May, following an opening slot for [Atlanta’s own K Camp in Fort Walton Beach,](https://www.instagram.com/p/CMUClUZhOuG/) Florida. Additionally, she just [released the official music video f](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sFS6mUMfKQ)or her pop ballad “Die Before You Love Me,” as she brings the lyrics to life in a cinematic performance. On the fourth episode of [Shirley’s Temple, Lexy Panterra](https://flaunt.com/content/lexy-panterra-is-the-baddest-of-them-all) sat down with [Shirley Ju](https://www.instagram.com/shirju) at [Matrix Studios](https://www.google.com/search?q=matrix+studios+instagram&rlz=1C5CHFA_enUS909US909&oq=matrix+studios+instagram&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2.2025j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8) in downtown Los Angeles. Read below as we discuss her new Baddie Blunt Rings, her COVID-19 experience, getting a therapist and the importance in mental health, women oppression in Iran, being the most subscribed on OnlyFans, her distribution company Cuckoo, [her 2021 calendar](https://www.virginlex.com/product-page/2021-calendar), how she met her boyfriend Alex Wassabi, shooting “Die Before You Love Me,” Lil Wayne responding to her DM, giving back to her hometown of Oak Park, and more! It’s a fancy version, and your hands don’t smell like smoke after. I love them, they’re special. They’re my little babies. It’s my logo, I’m doing different versions for different celebrities. It’s a new business venture. **How does Lexy think of these things? It’s genius.**  I have way too many ideas. \[laughs\] It gets me irritated. It takes so much to build something. I have 10 ideas I want to do, I’m in a lot of stuff. I love it, it motivates me to wake up in the morning. I get excited to wake up in the morning and dive into work. My team will wake up, they’re like “bitch!” They have 10 messages from me each. \[laughs\] They say “damn you don't sleep.” I’m excited! **How much sleep do you get?** I’m actually going to bed early. I was getting on ClubHouse a little bit, that was keeping me up. I’d gotten Corona for two weeks and I hopped on there, which is a really good platform. I met a lot of cool people.  **How was your COVID-19 experience?** I couldn’t smell or taste for 3 weeks, it was trash. It was right before Christmas. I still can’t smell some things. I’m still trying to get all of it back, it’s terrible. I lost hella weight, I dropped 15 pounds. You don’t get hungry. If there’s no taste, saliva and bread is nasty. It makes you not want to eat, so everything was out the window. I’m trying to get my booty back because you know we need that to succeed. **What does Lexy like to eat?**  I love everything. I eat everything. I love candy. But you know what, the Corona shit also got me to eat healthier. You can’t really taste, so you might as well eat healthy. **Do you cook?** I do cook, I learned during quarantine. I like stir fries a lot, they’re the easiest to make and they’re hella tasty.  **How’s life with the pup, Nightmare?** He's 6 months old. He’s aggressive, he’s so much work. He’s going through training, just got his balls taken out. He’s the best dog, he’s a Golden Doodle. He’s super calm, super sweet. He tells me when he has to go to the bathroom, when he’s hungry or thirsty. He can jump on the bed now so that’s crazy.  **Does he go with you everywhere?** Everywhere! I want him to be like that so when I’m on set, he needs to learn to chill out, sit, and learn. He’s famous! **How was Miami?** That’s where I got Corona. Literally, they act like that shit doesn’t exist there. I was dodging people: wearing my mask, washing my hands. Shit’s open. People were asking if I wanted to go to the strip club, no absolutely not! Then I still got It. I actually came back from St. Barts, Antigua, that was lit. It’s in the Caribbean, it’s so beautiful. I needed that trip, needed the vacation.  **How long were you there for?** We’re there for a week. We stayed in a dope villa in St. Barts, went to Antigua which is 45 minutes away. We stayed in a really cool hotel, my friend knew the owners. It was fucking dope, epic. Luckily we didn’t have to do commercial, we got the whole jet treatment. It was insane, the best.  **What was the highlight?** Laying on the beach was the best thing. Not working as much, I’m constantly working.  **Was it almost hard for you to disconnect?** A girl was still working, don’t get it twisted. \[laughs\] I like it, I'm addicted to working. It’s never gonna end, but I balanced the two for sure. It was a cool balance, I loved it. Work on the beach, not bad. I don’t drink a lot so it’s not really a problem waking up early. It was cool for me, I’m not hungover.  **Did you used to drink?** I've never been a heavy drinker, I’m more of a smoker. It makes me nauseous and throw up, I can’t. Being hungover sucks so bad, then you can’t party or hang out. I was having a Michelada, those are my favorite drinks. It’s a Bloody Mary, but beer instead of alcohol. It’s so good. **A huge part of this show is mental health. What do you do for self-care and to stay grounded?**  I just got a therapist, I’m like there’s too much going on! I have to deal with a lot of work, but I also have a lot of family shit. My brother just moved here, he’s 17. I have him under my wing now so it’s like I have a kid. A lot of things are changing. He’s cool, he's super stylish. He’s an LA kid, I love him. He’s a dancer so he’s in my space, it’s not crazy. I was going through hella anxiety last year. I was dating someone, it was quarantine. It was not good. Damn, I need to talk to someone to figure out what this is. That’s when the weed trip came into play, it gave me anxiety. It started connecting the two. I stopped smoking as much because for some reason when I think about it, it gives me the feelings of anxiety. It’s a lot, your mind will go crazy.  **The weed probably helped you creatively too.** Absolutely, too creative. I’m already creative. Damn, I don’t need to get anymore creative. It’s too much for me. \[laughs\] It’s been fine. The therapist is good, I’ve been doing therapy for a little more than a month. It’s having someone to really talk to. I even talk my own way through shit like oh, do I really need a therapist? I just talk to myself a little bit. It’s been a really good experience. I’m about to get my mom in there so me and her can hash out some things we’re going through. I didn’t grow up thinking it was okay to have a therapist, my dad said it’s for weak people. It’s literally the most important thing in your life, you need your mental to be correct. If you don’t have that, then you are done. I’ve realized that, so I’m happy.  **Talk about being a minority rapper, putting on and representing for Middle Easterns.**  Persian baby! Persian persuasion. I’m half-Persian and half-Irish, my dad’s full Persian representing Iran. Obviously very Americanized. I've been talking about the women oppression in Iran, it’s insane. You can’t even dance in public, it’s crazy. You’ll get arrested, ticketed, or slashed. In 1979, the Shah of Iran, all this regime changed and someone took over. More the religion took over but they did it heavy, like too much. All of these rules started being implemented, that’s when my family came over here. They said “we don’t want this.” It used to be free in the 70’s, used to be cool then it changed. They can’t have girl boxers, we just got able to be able to watch football games in public. You have to wear the hijab everywhere. Even though it’s a religious thing, it’s controlled by that. I've been really digging into that because I’m a Persian American girl twerking in monumental American places.  **When you’re there, do you ever think...?** I can’t go to Iran, I don’t really want to go there and they won’t really accept me. I have tattoos, I have Allah on the back of my neck. I'm not somebody they’d necessarily want to go there. I do have family there and it’s fine, if they want to come here hopefully they can come visit. I want to visit Dubai. I still haven’t been to a Middle Eastern place. I’ve been diving into that, really trying to fight for women’s rights over there. It’s not fair we’re secondary, it doesn’t make sense. **Can you imagine not being able to dance?** I wouldn’t survive over there, I’d be thrown in jail. Dancers are looked at as prostitutes almost. You’re low, it’s terrible. As far as Persian culture, I have a really great family. Everyone’s really humble and there for you, but we’re pretty Americanized. I got lucky in a way. **Talk about having the big platform you have and giving other females confidence.**  I like when people say that, “you’re so confident!” But I’m so insecure with things so it’s funny when people say that. \[fake cries\] Confident kind of. People have to have someone to look up to and I’m happy I can be that, that’s really cool. I hope more people can look up to me, paving the way for other girls.  **Can you break down your partnership with OnlyFans?** OnlyFans baby, changed my life! \[laughs\] I don’t charge for subscription, it’s free. You have to pay for some content inside, some is free some is not. One of the CEOs DMed me on Instagram and said “congrats you have the most subscribed!” I said “what do you mean?” They said “you literally set a record for most subscribed on OnlyFans.” No way bro.  **What’s the number?!** It was past 500K, so I have 580K subscribers. I like to be the first always to do something so it makes me happy. I joined in April, I told everyone “yo, you have to join this platform. It’s a way to monetize your content. I don’t care what’s on it, what stigma is attached to it, you guys are going to be making money. Do your own shit, brand it how you want.” Now I have a management company managing OnlyFans, musicians, all of the things. It’s a good money-maker. You get to do what you want, it’s sick.  **How do you help other people?** Building, growing their ads, growing their platforms. Getting them more subscribers, how to actually handle fans on there, what to do.  **How much of your time is spent dedicated to OnlyFans and growing it?** Absolutely way too much. You’re on there 24/7, it’s crazy. When I think about it, we’re superhuman. Superwoman, but it’s fun. It motivates you. It’s a lot of work especially having to manage a company, doing the album, getting the visuals, having people you have to pay monthly. I didn’t know I’d be in this position but I’m happy I’m my own boss. That’s what matters, I’m definitely not working for anybody else. I’d rather go through all of this stress, it’s worth it. The 9 to 5 stress is not for me, that’s a depressing stress. This is a fun stress. You’re in charge of your own career and life, you get to build your way. If you’re unhappy, you have to do what makes you happy. No matter how much money you’re making either, I don’t care.  **Speaking of, you recorded _Baddie Vibez_ during quarantine**.  I love that album, I tapped into my _Baddie Vibez_ during quarantine. I found out who I was and where I wanted to be, that’s what happened. Virgin Lex, because I came out of quarantine a virgin. \[laughs\] I said I’m a born-again bad bitch, that’s how I felt. Someone called me that, wow I really liked that. **I see you working in the studio all the time, I love it.** I’m finishing my new album in Agoura Hills. We have a distribution company now, Cuckoo. We’re doing some really cool things, definitely come out and see the magic happen. Justin Love’s over there. We’ve been really working over there. We used to do Distrokid, there’s different distribution companies. But if I distributed through them, it wasn’t on Instagram the same day. How was I supposed to promote my stuff if it’s not even on platforms. Cuckoo supports independent artists, and it’s free. Everyone gets to keep their own royalties, you don’t have to pay for anything. Me and my friends own it, I’m a part of the company now. I’ve been working for about 3 years. We’re trying to blow up and support independent artists, making sure they keep their money. I’ve been doing this for a long time and it’s hard. Even knowing how to enter the business and what to do, how to record a record, all these things that people don’t know, we’re there to help.  **I revisited your debut single “Lit” in 2015, I saw you twerking. What was Lexy like then?** Oh snap, that was the first main twerk. I’ve been doing It since 17 years old. I got lucky because I did find people. If I would’ve known to do it in high school, I would’ve been way more on. I just knew I wanted to be this famous singer, but I didn’t know how and what you do to get there. Sure I wanted to do music, what’s the process? So we’re here to help that.  **Did you have a mentor coming up?** I had a producer friend that kind of guided me through. I wouldn’t say I had one, not for a long time. Random people here and there. My dad was managing me in the beginning, he had no idea what to do. \[laughs\] He was going for it. It was a process, you live and you learn. The business is crazy, there’s levels. It’s no joke.  **I know the independent grind, you have to pay for all your resources.** It’s a lot, a lot of money. It’s hard to get support from big people and distributors. Apple, Spotify, you gotta really have relationships. Work hard, connections.  **2021 Calendar out now!**  I got the version in hand today! I’m only giving away 100 copies of the actual print. It’s a digital calendar which is cool now because everything’s digital. Why not do it digital? I’m selling that on my OnlyFans and VirginLex.com website. It’s fun, it’s really hot photos. I never really went that far, that ass is there. Oh, are we posting this on Instagram? The little skirt with the booty cheeks out. It worked though. I like it, it was a fun shoot. It took all day. \[snores\] For 12 looks, that’s a lot. Hair, makeup, outfits… a lot. **What Gucci store were y’all in front of?**  We were on Rodeo Drive, the paparazzi were there chillin’ out. It was lit, come get this for sure. It was fun.  **How did you and your boyfriend Alex meet?** We met on set of a Tyler Perry movie 4 years ago, but he had a girlfriend. It was a friendly thing. He dodged me a couple of times because he was nervous. \[laughs\] He admitted it early on. We get along so well. Our brands are so opposite. He’s super Nickelodeon/Disney, obviously I’m not as much. But our personalities match. He’s very positive and young-like. He’s so sweet, he always posts me. I love it, his support is real. It’s great to have a secure man around. I’ve dated a lot of insecure dudes, it fucks your bag up. It makes the relationship trash.  **His thing is YouTube right?** Yeah, he vlogs a lot so a lot of our life’s on vlogging. You’ll get a lot more insight of me on there. **Do you like vlogging**? I like some of It. Everything’s shown so ehh, but I like people getting to know me in a different way. I’m a little vulnerable, I like it and I don’t like it. It’s been fine, he makes it easy. It's pretty casual.  **You have 2.7 million subscribers on Youtube, how much do you spend on that?** I don’t spend a lot of time on YouTube. I usually put my music videos on YouTube, but because I’m independent and not with a big machine, I don’t get to monetize as much as someone like Cardi B. A super sexy video, they’ll trash me. They’ll be like nah, you can't. They’ll put me in another category. I don’t get as many views, I don’t get paid a lot.  **They remove my videos because of weed.** Right, what am I going to do? If I can’t monetize my content on YouTube, I’m going to put it on OnlyFans. I was the first artist to drop a music video on OnlyFans. I made way more money than I would’ve made anywhere else, it’s really cool. I’ll still promote on YouTube, I have a new video called “Die Before You Love Me.” **I saw you were wearing makeup, almost goth?**  It’s a little goth, rockstar darker vibes. I had my long dreadlocks. I felt like Christina Aguilera, dirty hair. Little Bohemian look.  **Do you do all of your looks too?**  Me and my team come up with the ideas. My hairstylist had an idea, my makeup. This one I trusted my team more because I’m usually more hands-on. It’s so stressful. Let’s let you guys do it, I’ll come on set and see how it goes. I trusted their vision, I’m excited to see the video.  **It lives on OnlyFans?** This one’s going to be on YouTube. BTS will probably be on OnlyFans. If you want the behind the scenes scoop, you’ll have to visit OnlyFans for sure. I treat it like an Instagram. You got feet on there, I made $400 the other day showing off my anklet. \[laughs\] “Hey I got a new anklet.” They love it, you’re going to find some new love on there. It’s a cool way to monetize. **What’s your demo on there?** A lot of men, for sure. That’s my demo on all platforms. It’s been hard because I want to get my music out to more women. I know if they find it, they’re going to like it. I’ve been diving into makeup. I don’t wear makeup a lot but I’ve been doing a little here and there. I’m trying to get that women fanbase. It’s hard, it’s not easy. The guys try to hide me sometimes. They might show me with their girlfriends, but they get weird. Some girls feel intimidated for some reason, but I’m cool as fuck I’m not taking your man, I have one. I’ll teach you how to twerk bitch, let’s go. **What’s the latest with the Twerkout classes?** Twerkout isn’t really poppin’ obviously live because of Corona, it’s 6 feet. We do have online DVD videos. I do some stuff on my OnlyFans too. Classes are still going online. I definitely want to tour as soon as we can, get back into the states at least that are open. That’d be cool.  **How was Lil Wayne responding to your DM?** \[gasps\] I was shocked. He didn’t get invited to the Grammys, how do you not have the GOAT invited to the Grammys? That’s trash, I was upset about it. He basically said yeah, that’s trash. Fuck it, I said “fuck it! But here’s my single, if you want to hop on it let me know.” I said “I’m a fan always,” he said “me too I’m a fan.” Wow, legendary. I sent “Die Before You Love Me,” I thought he was fitting. I’ll check in with him, we’ll see. Lil Wayne, let’s go! If nobody else got you, I got you.  **Does it go down in the DMs?** I’d say I get a couple hundred DMs a day. I really DM hella people. It’s usually my music, “listen to my song!” It’s cool. You talk to your fans, they talk back and support you. It’s easy, it’s not a lot of work. I like talking to them, I get insight.  **Probably a lot of touching words…** I like those too. Especially from the women, that’s always special. I hold that in my heart.  **Top artists in rotation?** Summer Walker. I don’t know artists by heart, but I’m diving more into Afrobeats. Super good. My song “So Good” with Demarco is one of the biggest songs I released, it’s a dancehall vibe. Everyone said “you’ve got to do more of that!” Damn I’m not that great at it, but I can try. It’s fun, I get inspired by them. I like R&B a lot. I’m listening to Kehlani, all of the R&B people. It’s my favorite album, which I’m tapping into on my next album. **Are you singing more?**  Yeah, I’m excited! It’s going to be an A-side, B-side, like back in the day when you’re listening to CDs. I’ma do hip-hop and rap/pop shit on one side, the other side is going to be R&B, soft slow songs. **Can we expect a name?** I have no idea what the name’s going to be. I really have no idea. If you have ideas, let me know what you think. _Baddie Vibez 2_? I don’t know.  **How was it giving back to your hometown in Oak Park?** I loved it, it was really special. I was running late because I’d just gotten Corona, I was coming out of it. I had to drive to Sac. I didn’t have a lot of time so my mom and my aunt went in Sacramento to shop. I sent them the money and said “run it up.” We went to my corner: Martin Luther King and Broadway.  **That’s what it’s all about. Giving back to your hometown, you can’t top that.**  I hadn’t done that before. I was a kid going to food banks with my mom so to see people are still like over there is sucky, but Oak Park has definitely gotten way better than it used to be when I grew up. I’m happy. **You grew up where Mozzy grew up right?** Me and Mozzy literally grew up on the same block. We’re around the same age. We have a song together, “My Love” on my _Gemini Valentine_ EP. It’s a slow song. I’m happy we did that, represent Sacramento.  **Valentine’s Day is, what you gonna do?**  A lot of sex! I’m a sex fiend. I’m trying to rape him 24/7, he’s like okay! As you get older, your sex drive goes \[points high\]. He’s like “leave me alone.” We’re going to to Palm Springs for two days, a little getaway. I try to go as much as possible. I don’t like to be in one place, I get too antsy. I'm tryna travel, it’s hard during quarantine.  **Does that mean you made the first move?** I probably definitely made the first move. I'm always making the first move. \[laughs\] Ahh, I want you! I’m excited, I want to get a massage. I wish I could wake up to massages.  **Every time I get a massage and it ends I get so sad.**  I had the best massage in Antigua, there’s this dock that goes out to the middle of the ocean. It was on that, it’s what you’d always want. Damn I’m living a dream right now. I had to check that off of my checklist.  **What’re you most excited for in the new year?** The new album. All of the songs I have released so far don’t fully showcase my real voice, I'm excited to show people what I can really do. Hopefully I get the support, I’m excited. I want to tour it. I haven’t done my own tour so I’m really nervous. I don’t know who’s going to show up. I don’t care how many people show up, you have to start somewhere. The year after that you go back, and hopefully it’s double the amount.  **You got the experience opening for Danileigh.**  Danileigh tour was lit! Lit! It was a 300 to 500 people in that crowd, a different energy. It was definitely a good fit, so I want my own. I don’t mind hopping on another tour either, I like girl empowerment.  **When are concerts coming back?** There’s places that are open. I’m about to go to Atlanta. I'm about to go to Miami and hit the super small venues so I can practice. When it does open up, bitch I’m about to be on. I’m coming for all of you bitches, that’s how I feel.
