As a 20 year-old aspiring actor and director, Isiah came out as gay at 15 and joined social media the following year. Isiah is “a military brat” who has moved around more than he can count, but no matter where he’s gone he’s always sought to stay true to who he is.
What is your favorite place to create TikToks and why?
My favorite place to create TikToks is anywhere outdoors because being in nature is where I get the majority of my creative inspiration. Second in the list is my room because I don’t have to worry about being bothered by other people in my house.
Who do you identify most with in pop culture and why?
In pop culture, I identify the most with Megan Thee Stallion because she seems to be the most genuine, funny, and confident celebrity I know of. She’s very open and honest about her personal life and truly seems to care about her supporters. I constantly strive to match Meg’s energy while also remaining true to myself.
If you could create your own superpower, what would it be?
If I could create my own superpower it would have to be the ability to manipulate people’s free will. I understand that with great power comes great responsibility but systematic racism has got to go. As well as homophobia, islamophobia, sexism, etc. I’d control our government officials to pass legislation in favor of basic human rights that benefit EVERYONE, not just those at the top of the patriarchy. I’m tired of having these elementary conversations about why people should care about people other than themselves. I’d actively try and reconstruct the system that has failed the people it claims to protect.
What's something often misunderstood about you?
Something I feel is often misunderstood about me is the fact that I can be confident and insecure at the same time. I am well aware that I am the shit but within that confidence I own my insecurities. People often mistake me talking about my insecurities as me having a lack of confidence. In actuality I am merely aware of the parts of myself that I do not necessarily like. But I LOVE myself and everything that has been packaged in it.
When do you feel powerful?
I feel powerful when I prove myself wrong, and best myself. When I overcome my self-doubt and do what I thought could not be done, I feel like I can do anything, and I can.
Is it ok to change your mind sometimes? How come? What's the context?
Of course it’s ok to change your mind sometimes. We learn new things every single day and those new findings can open our minds to things we have never been exposed to before. As a result, those new findings can change our opinions on certain things. So, by means of education, changing your mind is always acceptable. We need to understand that not knowing something/being wrong is ok, but refusing to expand your mind and acknowledge the possibility of not knowing something is a very ignorant trait to have.
What are three things that make you feel fortunate?
Three things that make me feel fortunate are my mom, my friends, and the fact that I’m still living.
