It’s of no surprise that in the course of showing his phenomenal Fall ‘20 collection in Miami during Art Basel Miami Beach last December, Dior Men’s Artistic Director, Kim Jones, happened upon his latest would-be collaborator for Summer ‘21 at the Rubell Museum—Accra, Ghana-born, Vienna-trained contemporary painter, Amoaka Boafo.

The resulting collaboration sees an electrified exploration of Blackness and masculinity, a playful interweaving of craft couture and a steely, worldly attitude, punctuated by Boafa’s artwork atop select pieces.

A video in support of the collection is presented in two parts. Chris Cunningham, video artist, edited and soundtracked the first installment, and integrated images from London and Boafa’s studio in Ghana. The second iteration, directed by Jackie Nickerson, celebrates the art of portraiture.
