For self-taught singer-songwriter-producer [Mia Carucci](https://www.instagram.com/miacarucci/), their latest single and music video [“Dreams”](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3b-xq1giyA) offers listeners a glimpse into another realm of consciousness. The 3D animated visual made by Peruvian artist N3T4, also known as Yannet Vilela, pairs perfectly with the second single from Carucci’s upcoming EP _As Above So Below._  The Miami native is heavily influenced by the music scene in the area, which can be seen in their music’s experimentation with Afro-Indigneous sounds from Latin America and the Caribbean. Carucci has opened for Earl Sweatshirt, as well as the sold out 2019 Jorja Smith x Kali Uchis tour.  With this upcoming EP, Carucci taps into their own experiences and draws on inspiration from the spiritual world, pushing the boundaries of what constitutes experimental sound.    _Flaunt_ caught up with Carucci ahead of their big release.  **What was the inspiration behind “Dreams”?** I began reading John Cage’s collection of essays and lectures named _Silence_, as I was working on dreams. Cage is somewhat of a Godfather of ambient music, and in this book he discusses the relationship between purposeful silences and lack of cohesion within an arrangement. I wanted to make my own version of what that sounded like within a dance music context. **Why did you decide to make an animated video?** Truthfully, I don’t have the budget (yet) to bring my dreamworld into tangible form, so I wanted to work with someone who could bring my thoughts to life. I found NET4, an animator based out of Peru, on Instagram and knew she would get me. And she did! **Did you choose your character’s outfits? Was it a process?** I did! I got together with my friends/collaborators Miwah Lee and Nathaniel Santos to take 360 photos of myself in two outfits to send over to NET4. I wanted there to be a clear dichotomy between the white and black looks. **How would you describe this next project?** This project is a semi-unconscious hand-picked collection of memories, intuitions, and beliefs I store deep within my spirit, translated to music.
