On January 5th we are having the first new moon of 2019. A new moon is when the moon is in conjunction with the sun, this time around these luminaires will meet in Capricorn at 15 degrees. On top of that, this new moon is also a partial solar eclipse. This means that the moon is obscuring the sun. While we have 13 new moons in 2019, we only have 5 eclipses. This an important time to a take moment to check in with yourself  and re-evaluate what goals you are trying to reach. Get clear on the intentions you want to set and the seeds you want to plant because this a fertile time of year. So before getting into the planning, you first need to know what archetypes you are dealing with. The theme this new moon is all about Capricorn. Ruled by the planet Saturn, Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign that is represented by a mountain goat with a fish tail. Using this earthy energy is to be able to set tangible and practical goals to be able to achieve. Capricorn is an energy that likes to be of use and to utilize structure and boundaries. I personally, like to incorporate the energy of the sign into the intention I am setting. To personalize what Capricorn energy you want to infuse into your intentions, reflection is important. The term “boundaries” has been a buzz word recently, but are you actually enforcing them? Are you creating healthy boundaries in the workplace, with friends, or with family? What do these boundaries look like? Why are we needing to put these boundaries in place? Most of us need healthy boundaries to preserve our energy or to prevent us from being in poor situations. These questions are useful to think about to define what boundaries you have and implementing them as a form of self-care. You can set goals with this form of self-care as a new moon intention. Another way to infuse Capricorn energy is to plan. Capricorn is a realistic sign, so after going through and writing your list. No matter how big the dream, how are you going to get there? What steps are you going to take to achieve it? Are you waiting for the universe to present you this dream with a big red bow or are you going to fight tooth and nail to be able to claim and achieve this dream? If you are writing a list, which is a very Capricorn thing to do, put some sub-bullets on what steps you can word towards to reaching this goal. On the day of the new moon, when you finished your list of intentions is when the fun begins. You can do something as small as just visualizing your goals or you can go all out with crystal grids and dowsing. Whatever makes you feel comfortable. I will probably get in the Capricorn mood with pumping, the Capricorn songstress, Sade’s _Soldier of Love_ throughout my apartment. Whatever additions or symbolism you want to include make sure there is clear intention behind it.  If you are incorporating crystals you can use, but are not limited too, Black Tourmaline, Fluorite, Garnet, Jet, or Black Onyx. If you are lighting candles you could use Capricorn’s color, dark brown or grey. Whatever you choose to incorporate, I suggest researching the meaning behind your object so that you can understand the symbolism but to also know what energies you are working with. Once you have finished whatever practice you choose, I suggest you take a minute to really sit with your goals and keep your list somewhere insight so you can see them unfold in the following months. * * * Written by: Collin Schreiber [@collinpschreiber](https://www.instagram.com/collinpschreiber/?hl=en)
