Joséphine de La Baume Is In Her Renaissance
From altered lyrics in the Jules et Jim soundtrack, to numerous writing, acting and modeling credits, the artist is omnipresent.
It’s no surprise in the Information Age to see a young beautiful woman flit from modeling to acting, to writing, to music, to marrying a rockstar—all the while delightfully refusing to be categorized—but Joséphine de La Baume somehow transcends the je ne sais quoi malaise to be a renaissance woman of her own right.
Getting her film start in The Princess Of Montpensier (2010), and making appearances in Kiss Of The Damned (2012), and the critically acclaimed Chris Hemsworth-helmed Rush (2013), De La Baume also makes up half of the band Singtank (with her brother Alexandre occupying the other side). She can be adored in the upcoming Road Games (directed by Abner Pastoll) and Ma Vie Criminelle (My Criminal Life) directed by Philippe Lubac.
We caught up with the femme Française to ask her a few burning questions.
What’s your favorite moment of the day?
When the sun goes down.
What’s the color that love evokes to you?
Royal green, it’s timeless and a deep color.
Do you believe in soul mates?
I do but not as an exclusive concept, I think you can have a few in different categories, in friendship, in siblings, in love.
What was the first song you remember hearing?
My mother singing "Le Tourbillon De La Vie" from the soundtrack of Jules et Jim (1962) by Truffaut, to put me to sleep as a child, she would change the lyrics every time and adapt it to that day. I’ve loved that song ever since but i still don’t know by heart the actual real lyrics, it’s better that way.
