It's never too late to change your life and when someone like Robert Pho confirms this, there has to be some truth in the saying. The legendary tattoo artist had a nightmare-like childhood and growing-up years but still managed to rise above the negativity and achieved success.
Pho was born in Cambodia during the Vietnam War. When he was just 2, his family moved to France as refugees and then 8 years later they arrived in the San Gabriel Valley. When he was a teenager, Robert Pho, now in LA, found himself struggling with racism. On top of that, he got surrounded by gangsters which paved his way to prison.
Robert Pho spent 7 years of precious time in prison but used it to his benefit. He knew that he needs to bring huge changes in his life to have a bright future and hence started preparing for it during his jail term. He learned how to tattoo while in prison and learned to survive using the skill.
3 years after coming out of prison, Robert Pho opened his tattoo shop called Skin Design Tattoo in 1998. He never looked back since then and went from strength to strength. Robert Pho is currently one of the most respected names in the industry and has 7 shops in 6 different states and still counting. He has also been honoured with many awards at top reputable expos since the mid-2000s.
Talking about his future plans, Robert says, "I believe we are the only tattoo company with 6 shops across the US in 5 states and planning on going international in a few years. My dreams are to provide my family and work-family with skills & knowledge that will provide for generations to come leaving a legacy. My dreams are to write a book, create a documentary or short film, and possibly a reality show,"
Sharing an important piece of wisdom with people who look up to Robert Pho, he says, "It is never too late to change and make an impact in this world. Anything is possible with faith, the right mindset, & hard work."
