Co-created and executive produced by Shannon Burke and Jonas and Josh Pate, _Outer Banks_ is an edge-of-your-seat drama set on the coast of North Carolina. **There is this sense of deep rooted friendship throughout the series. So how was shooting together in South Carolina build that chemistry?**
We’re all genuinely friends. I think that is something the Pate brothers were looking for. It wasn’t so much as what these people have done, or how many followers they have on social media platforms. They were looking for how organic these friends can be.
**How do each of you relate or not relate to your respective characters?**
I think I don’t relate to JJ in the way that JJ understands who he is as a person. As an actor, it is our job to be multiple people. I don’t entirely know who I am and I am okay with that. Every teenager goes through it to a certain extent.

**What attracted you to this project and what do you think will attract viewers?**
It’s a fun ride and you get to learn the characters as the show progresses—not instantly. In the first couple of episodes you don’t know where this is going.
