[The Siren Hotel](https://thesirenhotel.com/), located in Detroit, currently welcomes Mike Han, a Korean-Detroit artist, for a residency for which he has created a site specific art installation in the hotel. Han’s work is heavily influenced by Korean calligraphy, graffiti, and modern design, and his new online exhibition, _Disparate_, uses those techniques to talk about race, diversity, and segregation in America. Raising awareness and funds for the AAPI community, 60% of net proceeds from _Disparate_ will be donated to Hate is a Virus, a non-profit organization working to dismantle racism and uplift the AAPI community. The exhibit aims to unite cultures by creating a harmonious work of art—serving as a reminder to choose to stand united.

The site specific installation part of the _Disparate_ exhibition hangs inside two different rooms at The Siren Hotel, but can only be experienced by the public in digital space due to the pandemic. The pieces in each room are opposites of each other, yet they are the same. There’s a “positive” image, painted with an instrument designed for graffiti over US State maps, and a “negative” image, painted across a world map using the same paint, but with a brush that honors Han Seok-Bong, one of Korea’s most celebrated calligraphers and Mike’s ancestor.
