In the comfort of their Seattle apartment, [Julia Wills and Alexander Kummerow](https://www.herbivorebotanicals.com/pages/about-us-1) cultivated all-natural skin products, leading to the creation of skincare sensation, Herbivore Botanicals. The couple began their journey in 2011 by conceptualizing a beauty brand sans synthetics. Wills and Kummerow define the future of the beauty industry with plant-based products and recyclable/ reusable packaging. With therapeutic oils and non-GMO soy wax, the pair has perfected highly concentrated and efficacious formulas, so that every ingredient is an “active” ingredient. Luxurious textures and intoxicating scents are just a few of the pleasured senses associated with the products, as they strive to provide personal rejuvenation and indulgence of the mind.
We sat down with the herbaceous skincare remedies to test it all- from Moroccan roses to Egyptian gemstones:

This coconut water infused face mist is one of their most popular products, with youth-boosting hibiscus flower petals and moisturizing rose toner. The hydrating mist creates an aroma of bliss, almost like you received a facial from the local alchemist. This product can be used after moisturizing and to set makeup, or how we prefer: all throughout the day for an extra dose of glow.

Inspired by the rose quartz gemstone, the body oil leaves the skin hydrated and glowing with Moroccan rose & jasmine grandiflorum. The Omega 3 and 6 properties help to provide a luminous glow through deep hydration. We applied this in the morning, to flaunt shimmery skin throughout the day.

A creamy blend of rose water, aloe water, and white tea extract, hydrates and plumps skin cells to reveal a dewy finish. The buttery pink cream nourishes the skin by reducing redness for all skin types. We applied this in the morning under our makeup for a hydrated glow.

This exotic floral blend contains orchid extract, jasmine sambac, and Japanese camellia flower oil. The combination feeds the skin with much-needed vitamins and fatty acids like Omega 3 and 6 to fight premature aging. By applying the oil at night, we allowed the oil to sink into the skin and lock in moisture, protecting the skin from the dry summer heat.

This botanical blend of rosehip oil, sea buckthorn oil, and chia seed Co2, generates skin cell renewal through hydration and anti-inflammatory properties. The benefits of this oil are it’s healing properties, repairing damaged skin and preventing premature aging. Used similarly to the Orchid oil, we applied this at night to smooth fine lines and restore a natural glow.

Inspired by Lapis Lazuli, an ancient stone favored by Egyptians acts as a powerful anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory for a clarified complexion. The oil contains Blue Tansy for deep coloring, jojoba oil for absorption, vegetable-sourced squalene as a protective barrier, and jasmine sambac oil to promote elasticity. Like the Orchid and Pheonix oils, we used Lapis to relieve inflammation overnight.

Inspired by ancient Chinese facial remedies, the Jade roller transfers the stone’s healing energy to the skin. We stored the roller in the fridge overnight and used it to massage in our morning moisturizer.

The resurfacing clarity mask utilizes an all natural AHA + BHA formula to exfoliate and smooth the skin. Blue Tansy oil is the star ingredient with anti-inflammatory properties of Azulene, a highly concentrated organic compound. We used this mask before bed to awake with a decongested and fresh complexion.
