Sometimes, you’ve stumbled home from the club with your friends well past the time things have actually wound down, and you’re sitting in the rambunctious darkness mixing your newish turntable. And your friends are actually dancing, and you’re thinking: hey, I’m pretty good at this. You wish you could be, say, at a beautiful party on a beach. Say, at a beach in Ibiza. Say, at Ibiza’s Cafe Mambo, with its unparalleled sunset views and notorious sunset DJ sets. Fortunately for you and your lovely supportive friends and yet-to-be actualized DJ talent, Café Mambo has teamed up with Absolut Vodka to hold its annual ultimate DJ competition.

The competition, which will be judged by Café Mambo’s resident DJs, Jason Bye, Andy Baxter, Danny O, Sara de Araújo and Ryan McDermott, offers the winner a chance to play a sunset set at Café Mambo in September or October 2023, including flights with a friend to Ibiza for up to 500 euros in value and three nights of Grupo Mambo accommodation. The winner will receive daily breakfast at Café Mambo through the duration of the trip, access to the Las Mimosas Boutique Hotel & Spa pool and spa, and a masterclass with one of the Mambo resident DJs. The winner’s set will also be livestreamed online.

The venue, a paragon of Ibiza club life after being deemed “Best Bar in the World” by GQ, offers the winner an astronomical means to launch their career. Entry to the competition is simple: entrants must upload a 30-minute mix on Mixcloud and tag it #CaféMamboAbsolutDJCompetition2023. Particular judicial consideration will be given to the number of plays and positive feedback on the track itself, its originality, its suitability for a sunset set, the set’s track selection, and the contestant’s ability to use Mixcloud and other social media platforms to promote themselves. Mixes must gain over 50 plays to be considered for the shortlist. Enter, win, fly to Ibiza. Not too hard–If anyone can do it, it's you, right?
