Renowned artist and leader of the Wu-Tang clan, RZA, in collaboration with the award-winning, Grammy nominated label, Platoon, are coming together to present a one night only live performance of “A Ballet Through Mud,” RZA’s classical music debut album.

“A Ballet Through Mud” was a project that RZA conceived during the pandemic, and which was originally performed by the Colorado Symphony in 2023. Inspired by the writings in the notebooks RZA kept as a teenager, “A Ballet Through Mud” tells the story of six college kids going on a journey of self actualization. The classical voyage is also heavily influenced by Buddhist teachings on overcoming suffering and reaching enlightenment. Like a lotus flower emerging from the mud, the composition tells of making it through adversity, and emerging in a higher form.

Accompanied by dance works choreographed by Yusha-Marie Sorzano, the musical composition will be conducted by Oliver Zeffman and performed by students and alumni of the USC Thornton School of Music Chamber Orchestra at the Los Angeles Theater this November 4, 2024, and brought to audiences in partnership with the classical music broadcast, Classical California KUSC.
