The duo unsurprisingly have been friends for years, and at a New Year’s party in Barcelona, the two dreamed up a unique concept for a retro artform—the physical calendar. Perhaps it was the acid Carlota had serendipitously dropped early that evening that led to the idea, but the two were hooked and began making plans that night. Inspired by Sita’s eccentricity, Carlota observed Sita’s other-worldly appearance and remarked that she looked like an alien—your standard acid inspired party talk. From this spawned the idea of creating a calendar reflecting what would happen if a group of aliens came to earth. Now, the trippy out-there calendar, Planet Indigo, finally sees the light of day. Shot by Carlota and creatively designed and modeled by Sita, the project sees the two artistic minds coming together to reinvigorate the calendar as art. The surrealist project sees a group of all-female aliens who’ve been stranded on a nearly-destitute planet Earth using their otherworldly skills to help the struggling planet despite their inability to communicate with its inhabitants. From the get-go, Sita and Carlota shared the same vision that this project would go beyond themselves. They decided to ensure 100% of the proceeds went to a good charitable cause, ultimately teaming up with the Federación Estatal de Lesbianas, Gays, Transexuales y Bisexuales (FELGTB). The calendar is available for purchase via Sita’s online store now.
