In light of all that’s going on in the world, Billy Porter, known for his runs on Broadway and role on the show “Pose,” has decided to release a cover of Stephen Stills’ “For What It’s Worth,” as performed by Buffalo Springfield. Porter gives the classic a groovy, soulful spin, one that Stills said he was “proud and delighted” to hear. While still giving COVID-19 its due attention, Porter hopes listeners are also keeping an eye on the upcoming election in November, and encourages everyone at home to make sure their [vote](https://www.vote.org/register-to-vote/) is counted. To hear more about Porter’s cover and work, read our conversation with him below. **What inspired you to choose "For What It's Worth" as the song for your cover?** I was looking for a way to speak to the world in this time of crisis. The lyric in “For What It’s Worth,” unfortunately, still resonates today so I felt like it was the perfect way to hopefully inspire folks to get engaged, vote, and make a change for good. **Why do you think so many are turning to music to help them through this period?** Music is the universal language. Music reaches into the soul of a person and is one of the greatest agents of change that we have.  **What do you think of the country's response to COVID?** During the 2016 Election Hilary Clinton said, “I’m the only thing standing between The American People and The Apocalypse.” And there you have it! **How have you been keeping busy during this time of social distancing?** Spending a lot of time discovering what self-care is for me. Writing a lot. And hangin’ with my husband, who I haven’t seen it two years! * * * Photo Credit: Santiago Felipe
