If you haven’t felt it, then you’re one of the lucky ones.
But, for most of us, unrequited love is one of those youthful rite of passages, an inane and inevitable milestone that you’ll have to jump before eventually landing in the real world.
Dua Lipa lands on both feet in her music video for “New Rules,” which dropped today. Both the song and the video look exactly like what heartbreak feels like: paralyzing, foggy, and static. Accentuated by pastel colors and set in a retro hotel room and, later, poolside, Lipa shakes herself out of that harrowing fog and ultimately emerges triumphant: “But my love, he doesn't loves me," she sings, "So I tell myself, I tell myself / I do, I do, I do.”
Sure, the music video looks like heartbreak, but it also looks like healing. Surrounded by an entourage of girlfriends who hold her hand, caress her hair, and push her away from the phone when he’s calling, “New Rules” is a testament to the underrated importance of support systems after break-ups, such social circles that are often forged stronger through the experience.
In September, Lipa will join Bruno Mars on his 24K Magic World Tour. You can also find out more about her and her colorful personality from [our July interview](http://www.flaunt.com/content/music/dua-lipa) with her last year.
