The uptempo track reminiscent of summer nights and long car drives down the coast has a hook that will stick to your brain like gum. “I always write about how you moved to LA, I think about it more than I should say,” frontman Jonathan Capeci confesses in “[**summer**](https://nightly.lnk.to/summer)**,**” out everywhere today. The song is a tease of what’s to come on Nightly’s debut LP titled [**_night, love you_**](https://nightly.lnk.to/nightloveyou), slated for release on October 16th. The album will consist of 14 songs, including the previously released breakup anthem “you should probably just hang up” and the reflective “not like you.”  The Nashville based band has racked up over 100 million streams after consistently putting out a series of singles and EPs since their debut “XO” in 2016. Flaunt spoke to the band about the new single, album, and beyond.  **Where did the idea for "summer" come from? Where was it written?** This one we came up with the melody for the chorus without any words first. Then I went home and looked through some notes on my phone and found the line “when I think of summer I think of you’, wrote everything else around that. **What do you want people to feel when listening to "summer"?** That’s a hard question. I guess I was channeling these feelings I get of nostalgia and memories tied to a certain time of year. **You've put out music as Nightly for 4 years now. Was there anything in particular that made you want to wait to put out a full album?** We always wanted to make an album, but wanted to give ourselves time to grow into it as well as give some context to fans before dropping a full length record. **With most of the music that has emerged from Nashville leaning more towards country, how have you used the city to inspire your writing, if at all?** Nashville has some of the best songwriters in the world. The city puts heavy emphasis on the craft of lyric and melody. It was a great asset to learn and implement into our music. It's really inspiring to hear so many people who are soooo good at writing songs and forces you to be better/challenge yourself. **Are there any songs off night, love you that you are particularly excited for people to hear?**  Really all of them. For me there’s one called “older” that I’m so proud of.  **How much of the album was created while in quarantine?**  Basically all of it! with the exception of some bits that were written before. **Your music has a very cinematic feel to it. If you could soundtrack any movie, which movie would that be?**  _Garden State_ has the perfect soundtrack, so maybe if we could have one song on there.
