[Tommy Revenge](https://www.instagram.com/tommyrevenge/) isn’t a rockstar, he’s a “Rickstar.” Hailing from Queens, New York, the rising star recently unveiled his biggest track to date: “Rickstar” featuring acclaimed Florida rapper Smokepurpp. Arriving on the scene with his own style, swag, and flair, Tommy effortlessly stands out in the music industry, creating a sound that’s unique to what’s trending in the charts.
“Rickstar” is a word that Tommy came up with, inspired by his fandom for Paris-based fashion designer Rick Owens and being a rockstar.” Produced by Weathrman, the Delaware producer trio who’s worked with Gorillaz! The track serves as Tommy’s fifth single of his _Loser_ album cycle.
Speaking on the song, he explains, “My love for Rick Owens and Michele Lamy really sparked the song. I’ve studied them since 2012—watching interviews and reading as much as I can find. We always do a thing called Rick check, where you send a photo of your strings or Rick piece in the group chat at any given moment. “ He continued, I’d always wanted an ode to my favorite designer so the first thing that came to me was ‘Ricky boy step, watch a n\*gga big walk,” and I started freestyling from there.”
Tommy always refers to himself as a Ricky Boy, because the shorthand for Rick Owens in NY is Ricky or Ricky O. He explained, “I tried to start coining the phrase because I noticed a lot of people wearing Ramones or sweats, not even giving a fuck about the brand. Not saying they have to, I’m just a passionate person. While working on the album with Weathrman, I told them that everyone must wear Rick Owens as a joke to be like Kanye, but I was really hoping it caught on. They all said ‘bet, that’s dope.’ So when the song was made, everyone in the room (including Dan, the photographer) was wearing at least one piece of Rick Owens. I was obviously wearing the most.”
In the end, Tommy wants people to listen to the record and feel Ricky Boy energy; Feel how he feels when he rocks Rick Owens.
