In what was a recent landmark for the band, on June 12th, World’s Record Day, Wire released _PF456 DELUXE_, 19 years since the original release, _PF456 REDUX_. The DELUXE will now feature the tracks at their entire lengths, not at the previously shortened format of 2003 the releases. The majority of the full length tracks meet vinyl for the first time in this new release. It will also include their once solo track, “12 times you 7” the precursor to the 2002 _Read & Burn 1_ EP which this new release comes from. All of these aforementioned releases have marked a new era for the band, different from their work in the previous century—now with a faster and more techno-centric music design. Their influence stretches far more than what you may expect, with massive names like Sonic Youth, The Cure, Johnny Marr, REM citing inspiration from the niche but iconic band. Once again, the band forges new musical territory. They mix the old and the new in this intensely unique release. Not to be disregarded for their age, Wire has created something exceedingly fresh and, for lack of a better word, hip. This is not the washed up farewell tour we may know from rockers of the past, this is the next step for a continuously bold band. It is not to be missed.
