Though “Loving You Is Hard” first dropped on September 20th, Ana Sky’s debut single is still shaking up the alt-pop scene with its gritty energy and brand-new music video. Produced by AC Burrell, the track is a striking contrast between Sky's two worlds — scientist by day, artist by night — infusing her sound with a unique blend of intellect and emotion. Her dreamy vocals float through a raw landscape of vulnerability and defiance, while the lyrics unravel love, loss, and the tangled mess of finding yourself. The song pulses with the highs and lows of heartache, giving an unfiltered look at human connection.

“My voice is just the medium through which I share my heart and soul,” Sky says. “My songs are my way of processing life’s complexities. They're honest, self-reflective, and sometimes raw because that's how I experience the world. At its core “Loving You Is Hard” is about toxic relationship patterns, and that’s what we wanted the video to evoke. It’s dark and moody, but also very playful (just like me).” And her music video brings that same dark playfulness to life, perfectly capturing that same mischievous energy and weaving together tension and fun in a way only Sky can.

Sky’s fearless approach to music hits like a raw nerve, stripping away the gloss to reveal something brutally honest and unapologetically real. Growing up in Los Angeles, she weaves her own experiences into songs that capture the angst, longing, and chaos of her generation. “Loving You Is Hard” cheekily dives into the messy thrill of one-sided love, a reflection of Sky’s college years spent chasing some complicated relationships. And she’s just getting started — Sky will be opening for indie pop set Transviolet, and her upcoming EP promises to push deeper into emotional terrain, blending vulnerability with bold, experimental sounds that keep everyone on edge.
