Last night the New York Blue Note Jazz Fest kicked off with a frenzied line wrapping around the block for a super sold-out show at The Hammerstein Ballroom by the legendary Grace Jones.

Opening with a monumental tribute to Keith Haring to her iconic song "NightClubbing," Grace showed why she has been equally iconic for years.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but she changed looks for each and every song, whipping through classics, a series of hits from her most recent album Hurricane, and even an acapella audience sing-along to "Amazing Grace."

The entire show was a myriad of joyful theater that moved the entire room.  She once again reminds us that she is an originator of the avant-garde and isn’t showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.

The New York Blue Note Jazz Fest runs through early July.
