Based in Los Angeles, American Contemporary Ballet was founded by choreographer Lincoln Jones and dancer Theresa Farrell. ACB performs over 60 works each year, which exemplify dance as a musical art form. “Fashion is one of the things I draw inspiration from most,” shares Jones. “The glamour, sensuality, elegance, and glorification of feminine beauty in fashion and fashion photography is very close to the true aesthetic spirit of ballet." ACB is the only ballet company in Los Angeles to perform exclusively to live music, with audiences seated at stage level, to foster a visceral connection with the beauty and athleticism of ballet. Looking forward to 2024, ACB Jazz, on in March, is about letting loose the unruly, improvisatory spirit inside the artist. In June, ACB will perform Sapphires, the company's imagining of the fourth act that 20th-century master choreographer George Balanchine planned–but never staged–to his iconic ballet Jewels.
