Landing in San Francisco's Lower Haight District is DOG, an experimental project space directed by Landscape that explores new ideas on interconnectedness, language, and the unknowns. DOG came to fruition in 2022 with Studio AHEAD's help as they transformed the place to feature modular, custom designs and a wide-ranging library of arts and reference materials.
Landscape uses DOG to host numerous events to highlight emerging artists, experimental exhibitions, and curated gatherings catering to those in the fields of film, design, science, sports, fine art, jewelry, and independent publishing (but not limited to). The space amasses a wide range of different audiences and attendees with all different ideas and experiences that aid in creating their own visual and social experiences.
DOG is currently hosting their Compound Wonders show, a Saturday night live music event, for the months of October and November. The event will focus on our relationship to sound by utilizing acoustic folk, ambient soundscapes, and analog electronica. Thus, DOG returns to its central event theme, celebrating local emerging artists in San Francisco. They most recently held two out of their four shows, with October 19 featuring Kelly McFarling and October 26 featuring Chris Kallmyer. There are two more dates left: November 2 featuring Eternal Now and November 9 featuring Chris Latina. Sounds for this event are provided by Western Acoustics to create an immersive environment for attendees where vibrations become meaning. You can find tickets here.
With gatherings like Compound Wonders, DOG continues to connect and bridge the gaps in the creative space as they transform and create new environments for their attendees to experience while maintaining their intersections of sound, art, and connection, leaving everyone with a new and unique experience to share.
