The Miami Design District, in collaboration with the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami), is thrilled to announce Marta Minujín: Dreamscape, a captivating exhibition showcasing the visionary work of celebrated Argentine artist Marta Minujín.

Visitors are invited to step into the extraordinary world of Minujín, where monumental inflatable sculptures create multisensory environments that have defined her groundbreaking career spanning over six decades. Rising 30 feet above Jungle Plaza, Sculpture of Desires will debut as a luminous, intertwined portal of soft, vibrant arms, inviting exploration and interaction. Alongside, Emotional Candy, a labyrinthine structure of merging hallways, will disorient and delight, creating a unique sensory journey.

Within these vibrant, undulating forms, ambient birdsong recordings will encourage visitors to whisper their deepest wishes, fostering a sense of collective participation and wonder. The sculptures' fluorescent patterns echo Minujín’s pioneering mattress sculptures from the mid-1960s—playful, multicolored installations designed for physical and emotional exploration.

Born in Argentina in 1943, Marta Minujín is a pivotal figure in the 1960s and ’70s avant-garde, renowned for her transformative work in happenings, performance, and media art. From her radical act of incinerating her own works in The Destruction (1963) to her immersive environments like The Long Shot (1964) and Mayhem (1965), and her pioneering foray into mass media art with Simultaneity in Simultaneity (1966), Minujín has consistently pushed the boundaries of artistic expression. Her iconic Parthenon of Books (1983), a powerful monument to censored literature, celebrated Argentina’s return to democracy.

Today, her work continues to exemplify the power of art to amplify experience, foster collective participation, and radiate joy.
