Starting in 2025 to early 2026, the Fondazione Prada has announced its plans to host a plethora of artists and curators within its three permanent venues in Milan and Venice, and its two outposts in Shanghai and Tokyo. To quote president and director Miuccia Prada, “Also in the months to come, our institution will try to act as an observatory on the transformations of our social and cultural landscape, involving artists and thinkers of different generations and backgrounds to help us frame urgent topics from multiple perspectives and think more profoundly.”

Planning to reach an international audience, the institution is hosting a plethora of creatives from multiple backgrounds. Starting this January, the Fondazione Prada will begin these exhibitions with “A Kind of Language: Storyboards and Other Rendering for Cinema.” Discussing the complex and detailed process behind filmmaking, this exhibition will be curated by Melissa Harris and will contain an abundance of film paraphernalia from the past hundred years.

Future programming also includes a joint collaboration between director Nicolas Winding Refn and acclaimed video game auteur Hideo Kojima titled “Satellites.” This exhibition will be a multimedia and transcendental display of the power of technology in communication. Featuring hologram displays of Refn and Kojima, this 2025 installation highlights the shared genius of these two creatives.

Another promising exhibition will be Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s deep dive into his cult films “Amores Perros,” “21 Grams,” and “Babel.” With 35mm screenings of new and unseen footage, visitors will be directly transported into the frenzied atmosphere of the three films.

Other exhibitions included in this expansion are a joint collaboration between artists Lucio Fontana and Michelangelo Pistoletto titled “Mirroring,” the German photography program “Typologien,”artist Thierry de Cordier’s “NADA,” a live performance by multi-instrumentalist Laraaji, an art installation from AMO/OMA studios led by Rem Koolhaas, a music piece with the “Riccardo Muti Italian Opera Academy,” a presentation by the artist Hito Steyerl, a live performance by sound designer Kali Malone, and a site-specific installation by artist Mona Hatoum.
