In support of their latest full release, The Sunset Violent, Mount Kimbie graced LA’s Fonda Theatre with swirling tendrils of warped contention. The 9-track offering of Dominic Maker and Kai Campos’ collective concept are eruptions of dissonance intertwined with temporally distorted guitar and unconventional instrumentation, paving the path towards a deeply resonant emotional climax.
With new band members, Andrea Balency-Béarn and Marc Pell, a thick barrier of unpredictable yet melodious strings guides us through a soundscape that fluctuates between distant observation and intimate authenticity. Stand-out tracks like “Empty And Silent” and “Boxing” both featuring King Krule, as well as “Fish Brain” reached an all-encompassing resolution, as they started to close out their sold-out American Tour.
Later this month they will embark on their Euro tour first stopping in Ireland, before working their way west to Glastonbury, Instanbul, Italy, and so on. You can find tickets here.
