Spencer Ludwig is a talented musician, singer, and songwriter from Los Angeles, California. He began his music career as a trumpeter and has played for big-name artists like Capital Cities, Foster the People, and St. Lucia. However, in 2015, he decided to leave Capital Cities to pursue a solo career and signed with Warner Records.
Ludwig's music is a unique blend of funk, pop, and soul, with influences from legends like Stevie Wonder and Earth, Wind & Fire. His debut single "Diggy" was released in 2016 and quickly gained attention for its catchy beats and funky sound. The song was even featured in commercials and TV shows, making Ludwig an overnight sensation, with one of his most recent highlights being his trumpet work on Travis Scott's album "Utopia" as heard on "Telekinesis"
Since then, Ludwig has released several other singles and an EP. He is known for his electrifying live performances and has toured with artists like Bebe Rexha and Betty Who. Ludwig's music is a testament to his talent and passion for creating music that makes people want to dance and have a good time.
The latest from Ludwig is more than just a cool little tune, it’s in fact something he feels is a milestone in his career: “I shared a work-in-progress version of the song with my old bandmates in Capital Cities who upon hearing it got inspired to collaborate on it with me. This collab marks the first of its kind between us. Up until now, I have always worked with them as a trumpeter. This song represents the acknowledgment and growth of my artistry and is a full circle moment to have them featured on one of my songs. “
"Summertime With U" may very well be the summer banger we’ve all been waiting for. Its unique sound certainly sets it apart from every contender I’ve heard so far, however, the song lacks for nothing, being a supremely catchy and upbeat feel-good anthem that breezes through pop, rock, jazz, and more on its way to electrify the listener with its addictive groove. The track is musically refreshing, hanging on the outer edges of alt-pop and incorporating delightful instrumentation that feels busy, energetic, and crisp. The guitar work is absolutely stellar and it lends itself to a more gentle dream-like mood when the hook comes on. My favorite part is undoubtedly the beautiful trumpet solo that finalizes the song along with the chorus.
In short: Whatever you do, do not let this Summertime start without Spencer Ludwig and Capital Cities!
