It’s not often that you’ll find a company founded and led by a Middle Eastern woman who has attained success worldwide. However, Merian Odesho, the CEO of the hair care brand [Bounce Curl](http://www.bouncecurl.com/), proves that it was her origins that allowed her to reach her goals. If not for her naturally curly hair, the idea to create the company wouldn’t have surfaced.
As someone who knows the struggles of taking care of and styling textured hair, Merian delivers the products for the needs of her target customers. Since she founded Bounce Curl in 2015, the brand is now recognized in over 100 countries.
Furthermore, some of the brand’s products have received awards by Think Dirty, an application that rates goods according to how hazardous they are. A minimum of 3 is the ideal rating, as this indicates that the test subject is clean and safe from toxic chemicals. All of Bounce Curl’s products are within the 0-3 rating bracket, which shows that only natural ingredients have been used.
During the Dirty Thinkers’ Choice Awards 2020, the Bounce Curl Clump & Define Cream was rated 1, and it was hailed as the Best Curl Product on the market. The brand’s Light Hold Gel also received a rating of 1, and it was awarded the Best Styling Product. However, before all that recognition, Bounce Curl was first just an idea that Merian had when she couldn't endure the lack of natural hair products anymore.
Merian grew up with her parents and grandmother, who always told her not to neglect her hair. When she was young, she was taught how to make products using natural ingredients. She would scrape aloe vera and boil flax seeds together with her grandmother to create hair gels. This is why when she noticed that chemical-based hair care products dominated store shelves, she felt the urge to let the world know that natural ones are more effective and safer.
She used her knowledge and spent an average of three to four hours every day in the chemistry laboratory. She mixed acids and bases, analyzed bacteria, and read IR spectrums. Finally, she came up with the hair care product that she had envisioned and started Bounce Curl.
To advertise the products, Merian made full use of social media. She regularly posts photos and videos on [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/bouncecurlproducts), [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/bouncecurl/), [Pinterest](https://www.pinterest.ph/bouncecurl/), and YouTube to reach more people. She also tries to be transparent as much as possible about how the products are made in the laboratory. That way, potential customers will be encouraged to put their trust in the brand.
Fast forward to today, and Bounce Curl is now very successful in the industry. The brand has been featured on national television programs numerous times. Throughout the country, its products can be seen on billboards and other advertising. In addition, almost every major store in the United States has contacted Merian about Bounce Curl.
Through Merian with her company Bounce Curl’s journey, she aims to inspire other people, especially Middle Eastern women, to go after their goals. Not many expected her brand to become one of the leaders in the hair care industry, but she certainly did it because she trusted in her capabilities.
