After a triumphant inaugural edition on the West Coast, the hallowed contemporary art fair, Frieze, has announced it’s back for seconds on the Paramount Studios Backlot. This Tuesday, the fair’s torchbearers, Victoria Siddall, Frieze Fairs’ Global Director, and Bettina Korek, Executive Director of Frieze Los Angeles, hosted a breakfast at The Broad to reveal some of what’s to come in the myriad of exhibitions, solo artist presentations, films, talks, and various special events in February. This year, Frieze will feature over 70 leading galleries from around the world, presenting prominent figures, but also nascent names.
A few of the solo exhibitions put into the breakfast’s focus include the talents of **Rob Pruitt**, **Alvaro Barrington**, **Sayre Gomez**, **Gladys Nilsson**, and more. In addition, the artist street fair is meant to provide a robust platform for local creative enterprises and artistic initiatives across LA County, like **Artists for Democracy** and **Ooga Booga**.
Other highlights comprise new works by five female artists: **Kim Gordon**, **Mary Heilmann**, **Alicja Kwade**, **Tala Madani**, and **Sue Williams** (303 Gallery, New York).
A co-presentation from **Pace Gallery** and **Kayne Griffin Corcoran** of work by the prolific West Coast Light and Space impresario, James Turrell, will stretch into both galleries’ booths.
In a nod to Frieze’s continually evolving and growing footprint and programming, 2020’s edition will see a new section called Focus LA. **Rita Gonzalez** will advise solo and curated artist projects with an eye towards Los Angeles’ most celebrated galleries 15-years-old and younger.
