Jean Dawson, the artist known for his cross-pollination of music genres, has created a cinematic masterpiece. _BURNOUT_ is the latest release from the San Diego-born artist, but it’s not what you’re expecting. It’s a work of art, directed by Dawson himself, that chronicles his life in a 7 and a half minute video. It’s real and raw, showing an intimate side of the artist. _BURNOUT_ leaves room for kids that grew up like him to connect with his story.
Growing up in Tijuana, MX, Dawson commuted five hours over the border everyday to attend school in San Diego. It was during these ventures that he found his love for music. His music speaks to “kids like him.” Dawson sets the stage for “the underdogs” to rise by breaking barriers and finding success when the odds were stacked against him.
The musician has a loyal fanbase, currently raking in approximately 380,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. He has co-signed with the likes of SZA and A$AP ROCKY.
