‘We’ve all been there. That one shitty break up that will tear the tendons of the aorta apart, causing us to irrationally (and naturally) shave our head; think Britney Spears circa 2007.
Joji feels your pain, shaving his own head for new music video and single “Can’t Get Over You” released just today. Legendary producer, Clams Casino, is featured on the track, his signature beat rhythms layering with melancholic themes to produce a multi-texturized piece of art. Clams Casino has worked with the likes of ASAP Rocky, Lana Del Rey, and Mac Miller, only recently joining forces with Joji.
Clam’s beats have a way of moving the air, taking stagnate breaths and then compressing heavy bass life into them. Joji’s new single needed this Clam pulse.
Japan-born singer and producer has a DIY style that draws fans from across the far corners of the internet, creating an atmosphere of “fuck it, it’s art” that this new, weird generation thrives on. His artistry has been described as “a gentle, mournful voice translates…self-loathing into a sound that’s warm, intimate, and relatable.” (Pitchfork)
Warm. Intimate. Relatable. Sounds like your seasonal-friendly apple pie; think American Pie circa 1999, but more sad and less funny.

At the end of the “Can’t Get Over You” music video, a reel of bloopers appears and recordings of Joji falling over in roller blades and cracking a smile on set are what truly make the production worthy of a replay. Joji isn’t playing a character, he’s playing himself, albeit a heartbroken self. But aren’t we all a little heartbroken?
Joji’s album, _Ballads 1_, is set to release Oct. 26 and is the next digital conquest of the artist who only just released the EP _In Tongues_ last November. The track, “Slow Dancing In the Dark,” debuted just a few weeks ago, moving up to #2 on iTunes R&B and racking up 20 million Spotify streams in under three weeks. Both the video and song for “Can’t Get Over You” are in sharp contrast to the soaring and emotive “Slow Dancing In the Dark,” hinting at the wide range of songs that are going to be featured on _Ballads 1._
This Fall, Joji is joining the rest of the 88rising crew across North America on the 88 Degrees & Rising Tour starting in New York and ending in San Francisco. Tickets can be purchased [here](https://88rising.com/).
His debut solo tour of Europe will take place in December with a small run of dates in Amsterdam, Berlin, and London.
