Kim Gordon, iconic Generation-X figure and founding member of seminal alternative band Sonic Youth, has announced her first ever solo record. “No Home Record” is out this fall, October 11th on Matador Records. The name of the debut album derrives from drawing inspiration from the film titled “No Home Movie”, by Belgian-French director Chatal-Akerman. The new solo record came to be by working with producer Justin Raisen at Sphere Ranch located in Los Angeles, Ca, who has production credits working in past years with artists such as Ariel Pink, Charlie XCX, and Sky Ferreira. You can find Gordon’s highly praised 2016 single “Murdered Out”, that gives a new dimension to her own sound, not just something different to offer than previous band efforts.
Gordon expressess the creative process to due a solo album now later in her career is undetermined but if it werent for producer Justin Raisen, and the recent years of being a newly resident of Los Angeles, CA, it wouldn’t have came to be. This upcoming LP will contain nine tracks, with the newly released single, “Sketch Artist” paired with a music-video directed by contemporary experimental film maker and photgrpaher Loretta Fahrenholz. Fahrenholz describes the video project for “Sketch Artist” as being a haunted car ride, having Kim Gordon as a uber-parody company ‘Unter’ driver, summoning passengers through her deathly stare all around various LA neighborhoods.
