Perched at the former structure of Washington D.C.’s Riggs National Bank, Lore Group’s [Riggs](https://www.riggsdc.com) brings new life into the former bank while still keeping the historical narrative of the “Bank of Presidents.” The Riggs National Bank, which has served twenty-three US presidents throughout the early twentieth century, can now be home to anyone traveler who wants to slumber in a piece of America’s history. Located in the heart of D.C.’s downtown, Riggs is conveniently seated facing the National Portrait Gallery and nearby the White House, Capitol Hill, the National Mall, and Memorial Parks.
Preserving the mysterious and serendipitous spirit of the historic bank, Lore Group’s Creative Director, Jacu Strauss, maintained many original design features like the Corinthian pillars, expansive ceilings, brass detailing, and even the bank vault. With 166 guestrooms and 15 suites, Riggs takes inspiration from modern interior design embellishing their accommodations with terracotta walls that are complemented by the designs George Venson and Italian Carrera marble. The most intriguing aspect of the Riggs is it’s 2,500 square foot rooftop that crowns the top of the historical architecture for a perfect view of the unparalleled city line.
