Maison Margiela’s 2021 collection defies time, science and nature. The collection is displayed with a feature film titled _A Folk Horror Tale_, directed by Olivier Dahan and based on an original concept by Galliano. Garments are created alongside the elements through the film, whether it be through the lining or embroideries.
Introducing a new method of creation of haute couture, Margiela has founded _Essorage—_typically using oversized vintage or deadstock fabrics wrung through Artisanal size-compressing enzyme-and stonewash treatments. Through this process, a timeless fabric reveals its true colors.
With few pieces done in collaboration with Celia Pym, Hélène Vitali and Anna Sokolova, the collection is one of elegance and sinister detail that manifests its own story to tell.
