To the typical Hollywood socialite, last night could’ve been just another night perusing the Los Angeles art scene. But for Jaden Smith, it was a celebration of his incredibly talented friend, Moises Arias at his first LA photography show titled Teens. Moises is the co-founder of MSFTSRep with Smith— a force and movement that redefines creative exploration in music, art, and other mediums. The artist, actor, and photographer is an important presence in the art community with his most recent work capturing the reality of today’s most popular internet stars. The pieces express fly-by-night fame that currently impacts the spheres of entertainment and redefines the definition of “teen.” The Los Angeles native moved from Atlanta at age 12, where his mother opened the doors for his acting career by enrolling him in acting classes by the time he was 10. Featured in major films like Enders Game and Despicable Me 2 as well as the hit Disney Channel show Hannah Montana, he navigated his teens within a dichotomy working as an actor to support his family financially and his desire to get behind the camera.
The 24-year-old now lives the truth that he once hoped for as a teen with his new exhibit. Each shot for Teens is deliberate — capturing candid moments through all shot on a 1972 Canon F-1 35mm prime lens. Black and white images were shot using a Kodak 400 Tri-X 35mm and a Cinestill 800 for color shots.
His collection opened to the public this week and includes a photo book available for pre-order.
Check out the exhibit now through December 10, 2018, 12pm - 9pm at 314 North Harper ave, Los Angeles, Ca, 90048.
