Born and raised in Miami with his mother being his biggest motivation, the rising rapper has been through it all… and now he’s putting his all into the music. South Florida has been the hub for new artists in the rap game as of recent, and Money Rod is here to make his stamp. In describing himself, he states, “Money Rod is a God-fearing man, Money Rod has a hustler’s mentality, and Money Rod is about money, power, respect. My sound is universal Honestly, it’s universal, because it doesn’t have one direct lane. The world can vibe to it. Fast forward to today, Money Rod unleashes his newest single titled “Money,” which samples The O’Jay’s 1974 classic “For The Love of the Money.” Paying tribute to the greats that come before him, Money Rod sees this single as the perfect introduction of himself to the world. Having been called a “money winner” since he was a youngin’, Rod currently prepares to release his forthcoming full-length project called _Money, Power, Respect_. _Flaunt_ caught up with Money Rod virtually to discuss his biggest influences, new single “Money,” the independent grind, his drip, starting his own label Dreams Come True Records, staying positive always, wanting to act, and more! **Biggest influences growing up?** I listen to Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Master P,  Trick Daddy of course, Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, that's who I grew up to. Mary J. Blige, let me put Mary in there. I love Mary a lot.  **“Money” out now, what were you on recording this one?** I’m feeling great, I’m feeling awesome. I can't wait till it really breaks because I’ve been doing a lot of marketing to push the record and studying the independent side of music. I’ve been grinding since I was 18 years old, I’m 32 now. I understand that being independent means what I put in is what I get out of it! **What’s the reality of the independent grind?** The reality is to keep grinding. Don't give up, don't settle for anything, and no matter what keep going. Through the ups and downs, you gotta keep that engine rolling. But at this point in my life, I want a situation now. I’ve been independent forever since I've been doing music, so I need help now.  **How was it acting in the “Money” video? I see you rocking a fro.** Oh yeah, it was great. I loved it to be honest, I nailed it. That was my first time doing some acting, it was great. It was a great experience, and I got plenty more to come.  **Best memory from shooting the “Money” visual?** When we were on that yacht, living that life, I couldn't do anything but thank God for everything. It almost brought tears into my eyes to be honest with you. It feels like I'm here now. All this has been going on forever, I'm finally here.  MoneyRodFLAUNT.jpg ![MoneyRodFLAUNT.jpg](https://cdn.prod.website-files.com/62ee0bbe0c783a903ecc0ddb/6472d72e92161e4282d4cc02_MoneyRodFLAUNT.png) **How would you describe your drip?** I’m the definition of drip. \[laughs\] My kind of drip is in how I move, how I look, it’s all Money Rod. Smooth. Jewelry not required, and he has plenty of jewelry. **What’s the biggest bag you dropped?** The biggest was on jewelry, about $700K. All type of VVS’, ice that dances like Mike (laughs). **Talk about starting your own label called Dreams Come True Records.** Dreams Come True Records, yes that's what I’ve been pushing for, for a very long time. As you can see right here on my sweater. \[laughs\] I want to build an empire of people that have a dream, that look at it like they can't do it. I can’t shouldn't be in your vocabulary. If you have talent and believe you really have talent, then you can do anything you put your mind to! I want to change people’s lives the same way mine changed.  That's the whole thing in a nutshell about Dreams Come True Records,  **What's something fans don't know about you?** I’m a humble dude, I’m a God-fearing dude. I’m just that dude, everybody gets along with me. I got that spirit, and it's natural. It’s not something I try, that’s why people gravitate to me. I'm the positive guy. When it comes down to whatever, I always choose to see the bright side.  **How do you keep your positivity?** God, because I know God’s amazing. God keeps me the way I am so I avoid all the fuckery and keep it moving. Put up the deuces and keep moving. I always try to look at situations for the bigger picture.  There is always gonna something greater, no matter what it is that you’re going through.  **What can we expect next from you?** Greatness is all that we intend to put out. After music, I want to get into acting. I want to get into the big screen, and I want to play in movies. I want to transition my career into many different things. We have a lot coming next. Definitely get lots of new music, then sky’s the limit.  **You got a taste of that in the “Money” visual?** Yes! When I put that little outfit on, I felt that. **What actors do you like?** The actors I like: Denzel Washington. I like The Rock, Dwayne Johnson. I like Luda too in The _Fast and the Furious,_ because Luda came up from the music. He did something that I aspire to do. He came from a start in radio station to being an artist then he transitioned into a successful actor.
