Seydou Keïta and Paul Fusco are two artists whose work will be on displayed through [Danziger Gallery](http://www.danzigergallery.com) during Photo LA, the longest-running international photographic art fair on the West Coast.  Seydou Keïta is an African photographer who lived in Bamako, Mali where he ran a successful portrait studio. Essentially self-taught, Keïta developed his trademark style by photographing his sitters in daylight against a variety of backdrops that ranged from plain drapes to vibrant African patterns.  Keïta was unknown to the West for the majority of his career until the early 90’s when his work was “rediscovered”. Though unknown for a good part of his career, by the time of his death in 2001, Keïta was recognized as one of the greatest photographers of the 20th Century and inspired many with his use of contrasting backdrops.  Paul Fusco is an American photojournalist from Leominster, Massachusetts who started his career with LOOK magazine as a staff photographer. During his time with LOOK, Fusco was able to travel extensively through South East Asia, Mexico, India, Europe and Russia. One of his most notable series while working for LOOK was “The RFK Funeral Train –  a commemoration” where he documented the hundreds of thousands of mourners who came out to pay their final respects to Bobby Kennedy at railway tracks as his funeral train passed in 1968.  In 1974, Fusco joined Magnum photos and his work has been featured in a myriad of publications such as LIFE, Time, Newsweek and more.
