TATRAS Autumn/Winter 2020 Campaign: Chasing Light
From the creative mind of Masanaka Sakao, TATRAS was born for those who think of themselves as citizens of the world. Transmitting a feeling of freedom and dynamism, each piece has its own identity. Fashion designed for people who love to play without forgetting about elegance. Having started as a big entrepreneurial dream, TATRAS was founded in Japan in 2006, and grew and evolved in Italy after, thus, benefiting from the best features of both fashion nations: quality and style. In just 10 years, the brand has created a place for itself in the international market. The go-to high end jacket: the result of a perfect combination of excellence, tradition and technical performance—quality without compromises. The Autumn/Winter 2020 campaign and video, shot by Noah Dillon, and produced by Ben Tan respectively, focus on the origin of [TATRAS](https://tatras-official.com/?___store=en_us&gclid=Cj0KCQiAhs79BRD0ARIsAC6XpaUewT9P99kveWpb9OvagnFZ0xQ-K1y9N4NJxSlsqYSMDoB6LUGrIZUaAoLEEALw_wcB&utm_campaign=brand&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google): the Tatras mountains. Just like the title claims, Chasing Light wants to give back to its origins, to go back to nature. It is an ode to “Hope”, to celebration, to pure strength, to the beauty of wild nature. Now more than ever, hope is necessary to keep chasing that light—to hold on to it. Shot in a beautiful scenery, the campaign sends the message that people can look towards light despite the darkness. FLAUNT had the opportunity to talk with Noah Dillon about the inspiration and message of the campaign, and working with the TATRAS brand. I wanted the viewer to experience TATRAS in a western frame while showcasing brand duality. An equidistant position between eastern tradition and western conviction. **What is the main message the campaign is trying to send?**  Vibrance. Exploration. Friendship. Solace. Yearning.  **What was the process of shooting the campaign like?** Pretty rigorous, days of scouting and four days of shooting at a different location each day. Good friends, a few early morning hospital visits as usual for me, stuck van, no permit tickets. Standard. **How was working with TATRAS as a brand?** Working with TATRAS was great. They understand what it means to break into an American market and gave my team a lot of flexibility.
