           [](#)[](#) I Dreamt You Sent Me A Pin Drop Atop Unknown Fortune Designer Faustine Steinmetz blesses denim couture with a godmotherly touch Denim virtuoso Faustine Steinmetz started her label in 2013 with the purchase of a loom. With potential unspooling, per se, Steinmetz worked, determinedly, elevating her punctilious technique, finally approaching couture level. While her garments could earn favor in notable fashion houses, Steinmetz's process is literally rags-to-riches. Beginning with thriftstore detritus, leftover denim prints, outdated and forlorn, the designer makes sure the remnant denim are unseamed, down to their lone threads; then Steinmetz works diligently, running these found threads through her loom to bring her organic, delicate designs to life. Now, having unveiled her debut campaign (Shot by Arnaud Lajeunie), fashionistas can add Faustine Steinmetz to their list of rare and must-have pieces. The collection exemplifies her signature pieces: couture blue jeans to eggshell pleated dresses—but it's timeless, and not in the played out sense of the word. We especially love where Steinmetz feigns the appearance of a Van Gogh sky; blue and white paint makes the piece look perpetually wet to the touch. How fitting! Steinmetz's timeless re-appropriation of yesteryear technology conceptualizes a merging of fashion and art, freezing us in a moment where time does not elapse, where paint does not dry.
