The PULO Project is an LA-based project that highlights art and culture from the Philippines. The project aims to celebrate the Filipino arts by featuring contemporary fashion, design and multi-sensory events.
The project announced their second installment of P1 PULO with [Please Do Not Enter](http://pleasedonotenter.com/)’s Downtown LA location; the dates are from July 9—August 4, with opening night on July 9th from 6—9PM.
This upcoming installment features Filipino-American Designers [Carlyle Nuera](https://www.instagram.com/carlylenuera/) and [Maaari](https://www.instagram.com/maaari_co/).
Nuera, who’s the lead designer for Barbie Signature at Mattel, debuts his collection titled, “Panit”—which is the Waray word for ‘skin.’ Waray is the fifth most spoken language in the Philippines.

The collection includes 5 Terno blouses in shades of skin tone colored silk organza. “The collection represents the range of skin tones that Filipinos possess—a range not always fully represented in media.”
MAAARI is the dream of modern design rooted in consciousness and inspired by Philippine culture. Run by three Filipina-American women—Jeanette Sawyer, Ivy Ocampo, and Samantha Roxas are designers and storytellers dedicated to honoring their roots and elevating the culture.
For Pulo Project, the brand launches a selection of adornments and home goods featuring new and exclusive Ritual Mask Burners, the Lunar Jewelry Collection, and the Banga Ceramics.

LA-based exhibition designer and jeweler Jeanette Sawyer creates these unique Filipino-American handcrafted jewelry with modern sensibility and metal smithing methods.
Having been made exclusively by Philippine Kalinga women, it should come to no surprise that this Banga collection was designed as a testament to the Filipina spirit. The ‘banga’ pronounced (ba-nga) were pots that were used for cooking, storing food and water, and bartering.

/THE LAB/ by Please Do Not Enter features an installation by [Zacarias 1925](https://www.instagram.com/zacarias1925/) and [Garapata](https://www.instagram.com/garapata_/) called the ZACARAPATA by creative director Rita Nazareno.
ZACARIAS 1925 “places a contemporary thrust in the traditional craft of hand-weaving.” Their home accessories and bags reference architecture, cinema and contemporary art. ZACARIAS 1925 is exclusively hand-woven at the S.C. Vizcarra Workshop, which was founded by Nazareno’s grandmother in 1925 in Manila.
Dex Fernandez, aka Garapata, is a Manila-based interdisciplinary artist who sources his inspiration from street art and found footage. His work ranges from paintings and drawings to murals, mixed media works and vintage photography-inspired posters from thrift shops. Fernandez challenges our traditional definition of fine art by juxtaposing religious iconography with pop imagery, children’s drawings and cut outs from adult magazines.
His work has been featured at numerous local and international exhibitions including (but not limited to) UP Vargas Museum, Cultural Center of the Philippines, Museum of Design and Contemporary Arts and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

The installation will also be enhanced with a botanical scent excursion inspired by the Philippines by aromatic curators [Barratt Riley and Co](https://www.barrattriley.com/). Committed to natural products that promote well being, the company was created by Phoenix psychologist Dr. Tyler Barratt and Beverly Hills beauty guru Christian Fitzgerald Riley. Their natural, hand-crafted botanical aromas are made of premium ingredients and are sourced ethically from around the globe.
You can RSVP for opening night on July 9, 2019 from 6—9PM [here](https://puloeditiontwo.splashthat.com/).
